UKKA Recognises Nine New Honorary Members at AGM
The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) has formally conferred Honorary Membership on nine individuals at its Annual General Meeting, celebrating exceptional and sustained contributions to kidney care, research, education, and the wider professional community. Honorary Membership is the highest individual honour bestowed by the UKKA.
It is reserved for persons of distinction who have significantly contributed to the objectives of the Association, and who are nominated and elected by the membership, ensuring the recognition carries the genuine esteem of their peers across the renal community.
The nine new members were formally conferred at the AGM held last week. The recognition reflects the UKKA's ongoing commitment to celebrating excellence across all disciplines of the kidney community, including clinicians, scientists, researchers, and multi-professional team members such as nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, and psychologists.
The UK Kidney Association, the leading professional body for the UK renal community, has more than 2,000 members. It supports professionals in the delivery of kidney care and research with the aim of improving outcomes for people living with kidney disease.
The UKKA was formed following the merger of the British Renal Society and the Renal Association, bringing together over 70 years of nephrology history into a single organisation. The AGM also took place in the wake of UK Kidney Week 2026, the association's flagship annual conference held in Harrogate in early March, which brought together hundreds of kidney professionals from across the UK. The association has additionally launched its Voices to Vision initiative, a national series of listening events running throughout 2026 designed to shape a new kidney disease strategy.
