Terms & Conditions

These are the Terms and Conditions of subscribing, joining and participating in the Association of Association Executives community.

1. Introduction

  1. "AAE" refers to the Association of Association Executives (an unincorporated association) or its management company or its employees, contractors or agents
  2. When you join the AAE as a "member" you are subscribing to services and joining a community. The word "member" refers to your status as a receipient of the service, and "membership" refers to the package of services. There are no voting rights.
  3. When you "subscribe" you are subscribing to news, information and updates.
  4. These terms and conditions form the basis of the contract through which your service will be delivered.
  5. On Joining as a member or subscribing you agree to these terms and conditions and you are providing the appropriate consent to handle your personal information in accordance with our Data and Privacy policy and the UK Data Protection Act.

2. Policies

  1. You agree to the Data and Privacy Policy. If this policy changes, you will be notified by e-mail or an announcement on this website.

3. Conditions of "Membership"

  1. Membership is open to employees and officers of not-for-profit professional, business and scientific membership organisations and to the organisations themselves, as well as to selected suppliers
  2. Membership is continuous and is for a minimum of 6 months
  3. Who can not be members of AAE: Representatives, ambassadors, employees or contractors of
    1. Suppliers providing services or products to membership organisations
    2. Other associations or societies of association employees or executives
    3. Religous or political member organisations

4. Members' commitment

  1. Members agree to receive: 
    1. Association Insights magazine, max every 3 months (by email or post at the discretion of AAE)
    2. eNewsletter, maximum every 2 weeks
    3. Training / Education email maximum every 2 weeks
    4. Content Update email, maximum every 2 weeks
    5. Services / events email, maximumg every 2 weeks
    6. Postal mailing, maximumg of once every 3 months
    7. A call to introduce a service or product that specifically matches your profile / interests, once every 6 months maximum
  2. Members agree to complete every six months, a minimum:
    1. One submission of content, as described on the Contribute page of the website 
    2. Update the AAE on their or their organisation's Educational or Information needs
    3. Update the AAE on challenges faced in their organisation and needs from AAE
    4. Update on Projects they are undertaking, to receive recommendations from the Resource Centre and other information to assist
    5. Update of their Personal and Organisation profile
    6. One research call of 10-20 minutes, on request
    7. Feedback on all services taken up, on request
  3. A member agrees to undertake all the commitments detailed in section 4.2, however long the membership lasts, whether or not any services are taken up

5. Membership cancellation 

  1. You may cancel your membership at any time
  2. Any member benefits and rights including access to, or special prices for future events or services that you may have bought or registered for will cease on receipt of your cancellation notice, and any fees you have paid will be refunded by the AAE, subject to an administration fee.
  3. If you do not complete the commitments detailed in section 4.2 above, for any six month period of your membership then the you agree to pay the commercial non-member fee for the services you have used for the six month period in you are in default
  4. The "Membership" will become invalid and will be cancelled without penalty to AAE when:
    1. The AAE decides at anytime it wishes to cancel your "membership"
    2. You move from working for an an association to working for a supplier of, or become a representative of an organisation supplying services or products to membership organisations

6. Competition and Prize Draw Rules

  1. All prize draws and competitions which are associated with AAE are subject to separate terms and conditions
  2. Prize draws are not open to employees, contractors, representatives or agents of AAE
  3. These terms and conditions override any contrary terms or conditions published by AAE

7. Prices

  1. Any fees displayed on the AAE website or provided in any communication or call are
    1. Charged in GBP except where the option is displayed in your basket or checkout in an other currency
    2. Subject to change without notice

8. Liability

  1. AAE's liability to you will not extend to any membership related benefits or goods or services provided by any third party.
  2. AAE specifically excludes liability for any loss or damage suffered by a member as a result of her/his involvement in whatever manner with any third party.
  3. Reasonable effort is made to ensure the accuracy of information provided on our websites, in newsletters, emails and any other location or publication; however, neither the AAE nor the authors can accept liability for errors and omissions.
  4. AAE's maximum financial liability for any service will be the amount paid by you to the AAE for the service

9. Queries, complaints, comments

  1. The AAE will endeavor to respond within 48 hours to any complaint or query received. This may be an acknowledgement that we have received a complaint whilst further investigations are carried out. If you have any queries, comments or complaints about products and services please contact us at [email protected].
  2. If you believe that any of the information AAE holds about you is incorrect or out of date, please log in and edit your information, and if the data is not editable, forward the accurate information to [email protected].
  3. If you wish to obtain a copy of your personal data held by AAE, then please email [email protected]. You may be asked to provide proof of your identity and for any further information that might help AAE to locate the data you are seeking.

10. Force Majeure

  1. Neither party shall be liable to the other for any delay or non-performance of its obligations by reason of matters beyond its control including, but not limited to, any act of terrorism, war, riot, civil commotion, compliance with any law or government order, fire, flood or storm, strikes, outspread of disease or any other industrial dispute, delay in transit, power failure, postal delay, or any event that cannot be reasonably be planned for or avoided.

11. Variations to this agreement 

  1. AAE may change these terms and conditions at any time upon giving its members 14 days prior notice.
  2. The most recent edition of these terms and conditions will be binding upon AAE members, subscribers and users of its services.
  3. AAE Members may exit the contract if they do not accept any updated terms and conditions by emailing [email protected].
  4. These terms and conditions override any contrary terms or conditions published by the AAE.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

  1. These terms and conditions are governed by English law.
  2. You hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts notwithstanding the jurisdiction where you are based. 
  3. If any court or competent authority decides that any of the provisions of these terms are invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, the term will, to that extent only, be severed from the remaining terms, which will continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by the law.
  4. These Terms and Conditions do not and shall not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
  5. A person who is not party to these terms shall not have any rights under or in connection with them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
  6. The Association of Association Executives (AAE) is managed by Professional Communy Services Ltd whose registered office is at 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, England, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom.
