FENS Backs 32 Brain Awareness Projects Across 19 Countries
The Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) has announced that 32 Brain Awareness Week 2026 projects across 19 European countries received grant support through the federation's partnership with the Dana Foundation.
Brain Awareness Week is an annual global campaign that uses public events, school visits, interactive exhibitions and community activities to raise awareness of brain science. This year's FENS-supported projects span a wide range of formats and countries, from hands-on neuroscience workshops for children in rural Asturias to a travelling educational exhibition on the human brain in Bulgaria, and events exploring the relationship between music and brain activity in Romania.
The awards reflect FENS's ongoing investment in public engagement as a central part of its mission to advance and promote neuroscience in Europe and beyond. The federation represents more than 22,000 members across 43 European societies in 33 countries.
Alongside the Brain Awareness Week grants, FENS has also opened registration for the FENS Forum 2026, which takes place in Barcelona from 6 to 10 July, in partnership with the Spanish Society of Neuroscience. The Forum is Europe's largest international neuroscience congress. Full details of the Brain Awareness Week awardees are available on the FENS website.
