European University Association Launches Institutional Data Peer Group

The EUA creates a new cross-institution collaboration to advance the use of data in university management.

European University Association (EUA) has launched a new Thematic Peer Group (TPG) on institutional data, with the group's inaugural online meeting taking place on 6 March 2026. The initiative brings together senior leaders from member universities across Europe to explore how data can be better harnessed to enhance institutional performance.

Building on EUA's extensive work in digitalisation and artificial intelligence, the group will focus on initiatives that use student and operational data to drive institutional improvement. Members will work towards creating a sustained community of practice to examine the value of data-steered initiatives, and to compare practices in gathering, managing, analysing, and governing institutional data across different higher education systems.

The launch follows EUA's confirmation of eight new member universities approved by the Council in January 2026, and comes as the association continues to expand its portfolio of practical peer learning activities for institutional leaders.

The EUA simultaneously announced the appointment of three new experts to its Learning & Teaching Steering Committee, effective from 1 March 2026, further strengthening the strategic guidance available to the association's work in this area.

The EUA also published a joint statement in mid-March marking one year since the launch of the European Commission's Union of Skills initiative, calling for further strategic investment in lifelong learning — including a flagship EU initiative and a dedicated European Skills Fund.
