European Equestrian Federation Engages EU Parliament on 2026 Rules Revision

The EEF attended the MEP Horse Group meeting in Brussels to advance discussions on a major revision of equestrian sport rules.

The European Equestrian Federation took part in the meeting of the MEP Horse Group at the European Parliament in Brussels on 5 March 2026. The meeting brought together representatives from the equestrian sector, Members of the European Parliament and other stakeholders to discuss issues affecting horses and equestrian sport in Europe.

The EEF's participation was part of a broader programme of institutional engagement aimed at strengthening the voice of European equestrian sport within EU policy discussions. The federation has been an active participant in discussions affecting animal welfare, veterinary regulation and the status of sporting horses within the EU's legislative framework.

Alongside this engagement, the EEF has been hosting stakeholders and the international equestrian body, the Fédération Équestre Internationale, for discussions focused on a significant revision of rules for 2026. The federation has also announced its 2026 Working Group appointments, signalling a structured approach to developing new policy and standards across the disciplines it represents.

The EEF also confirmed the continuation of its partnership with Longines through 2030, reaffirming a long-term commercial collaboration supporting the EEF Series event calendar and the broader development of equestrian competition across Europe.
