CIOB Extends B.E. Inclusive Commitment With EDI Action Plan to 2030

The Chartered Institute of Building deepens its multi-body equity, diversity, and inclusion commitments as the B.E. Inclusive coalition marks its fourth year.

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the world's largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership, with almost 50,000 members worldwide, reaffirmed its commitment to the B.E. Inclusive initiative as the coalition moved into its new 2025–2030 phase.

The CIOB is one of the nine signatory bodies to the renewed Memorandum of Understanding. The association has been a core member of the initiative since its founding in 2022, contributing its data collection capabilities, EDI expertise, and advocacy voice across the construction sector. The initiative's new phase introduces enhanced focus on talent pipelines and industry culture — areas of particular relevance to the construction industry, which continues to face significant challenges in attracting diverse talent and supporting career progression for underrepresented groups.

CIOB CEO Dr Victoria Hills said: "It is significant that so many organisations, representing so many people from the built environment sector, have come together to reconfirm our shared commitment to an inclusive and supportive industry."

The CIOB's own EDI Action Plan for 2023–2028 runs alongside the B.E. Inclusive initiative, covering leadership, events and marketing, employer and procurement practices, membership, education, and policy work.
