About the role
This is a new role and an exciting opportunity to join our growing Social Media and Communities team to lead the development of a digital communities strategy and increase engagement with and among our existing communities on social media. You'll be a key point of contact for all things digital communities, supported by our Social Media and Communities Lead to help the organisation deliver best-in-class community management and engagement on social media.
Alongside driving the development and evolution of the community management and engagement strategy, you'll manage the day-to-day outputs for our audience-specific Pages and forums; working with wider social media and communities colleagues, and the wider business, to execute them. You'll also help upskill the wider team in this; supporting the delivery of strategy, managing outputs across campaigns and helping to build a better understanding of digital communities across the business.
This is a chance to work across the entire organisation, with teams including Marketing, Press, Events, Policy, and you'll meet members from all backgrounds to help reflect their experiences and deepen engagement with and among their communities across our social channels. This is an exciting and varied role where you'll be able to apply your experience to build a better community experience for our members and get stuck in shaping the direction for our digital communities at the Law Society.
The Digital Communities Manager is responsible for leading the development of and increasing engagement with and among our communities on social media. This role supports the Social Media and Communities Lead to deliver the social media and communities strategy.
Working alongside the Social Media and Communities Lead, they will contribute to the development and evolution of the community management and engagement strategy for all Law Society-owned channels and be the go-to point for deepening community engagement with our social media member communities.
Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Work with the Social Media and Communities Lead, supporting the development and evolution of the community management and engagement strategy for all Law Society-owned channels
- Manage day-to-day operation and performance of LinkedIn Showcase Pages for priority segmented audiences.
- Spot and plan for future opportunities to deepen community-led engagement on social media.
- Plan and lead creation of segment-specific community content to engage audiences across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Develop an engagement plan for ‘earned’ communities beyond the Law Society's ‘owned’ social media channels
- Share knowledge and skills with teams across the business to improve understanding of social media and engagement with communities across platforms.
- Share community insights with teams across the business to support their content planning and understanding of how social media can support their goals.
- Stay up to date with activity across the Law Society and the legal profession, working with the wider organisation to share key updates with our audience.
- Attend Law Society events as required to support with content capture, including interviewing staff and attendees.
- Work alongside the Social Media and Communities Manager to ensure all content planning and publishing deadlines are met and accurately reflect the scheduled social media communities content plans.
- Monitor, collate and present data on the performance of social media communities content and campaigns, making recommendations to improve engagement where necessary.
- Monitor social media community trends to continue to update Law Society best practice on social media.
- Support the wider team, as required.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
- Experience developing, or supporting the development and execution of, a community engagement or management strategy for social media.
- Experience managing a large segmented social media community.
- Experience supporting an audience through effective community management or comparable written support.
- Awareness and understanding of social media best practice, industry trends, and different platforms
- Working and negotiating with internal stakeholders and building strong working relationships
- Proven ability to build/enhance own digital marketing skills and skills within the team.
- Highly collaborative with ability and desire to work closely with colleagues at all levels across the business.
- Self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and positive attitude.
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to work independently on agreed briefs.
- Experience using social media management tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Brandwatch, and similar
Desirable:
- Some experience creating or editing visual content for social media channels
- Experience working on digital communities or forums, or knowledge and understanding of how these communities work
- Experience of crisis management and risk escalation.
- Knowledge of the legal profession.
- Experience fostering and growing social media communities from scratch.
- Working with high-profile stakeholders.
