World Nuclear Association opens World Nuclear Fuel Cycle 2026 in Monaco

Flagship conference co-organised with Nuclear Energy Institute gathers senior fuel cycle leaders.

The World Nuclear Association (WNA) has opened World Nuclear Fuel Cycle (WNFC) 2026 in Monaco, bringing together senior leaders, analysts, policymakers and commercial nuclear fuel professionals from across the global industry. The annual conference is jointly organised by the World Nuclear Association and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), and is recognised as one of the sector's premier forums for market intelligence and business networking.

Director General Sama Bilbao y León opened the conference, noting that the global energy crisis has focused governments on the security of their energy supply, with 38 countries now supporting the goal to triple global nuclear capacity by 2050. The programme covers the full commercial fuel cycle, from conversion, enrichment and fabrication through to market dynamics and policy developments. The conference works alongside WNA's broader collaboration with bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and national industry associations.

The WNA has said WNFC 2026 arrives at a defining moment for global energy security, with players in the fuel cycle ready to meet rising demand. Sponsors of the 2026 conference included LIS Technologies, UxC, Westinghouse, AtkinsRéalis and AMPERA, with technical tours hosted by Orano Tricastin, EDF's Tricastin Nuclear Power Plant and Framatome's Romans-sur-Isère facility.
