Unified Water Label Association appoints Lee Cartwright as new leader
The Unified Water Label Association (UWLA) has announced a significant leadership change as Yvonne Orgill, a longstanding figure in the organisation, plans her retirement on 31 March 2025. Succeeding Orgill is Lee Cartwright, who officially joined the UWLA team on 10 March 2024.
In a statement reflecting on his new appointment, Cartwright expressed enthusiasm for the role and a commitment to maintaining the progress established under Orgill’s stewardship. “I am thrilled about this new role and looking forward to building on Yvonne’s legacy,” Cartwright stated. He acknowledged Orgill's reputation as a prominent leader and influencer in the industry: “During her time in the industry, Yvonne has become well recognised... I am passionate about driving forward continued growth and future success for the organisation.”
The transition in leadership comes at a pivotal time for the UWLA, as Cartwright aims to integrate smoothly into his new position over the coming month. He noted that he would be working closely with Orgill to facilitate this transition, allowing him to gain essential insights into the role and the organisation’s operations.
Yvonne Orgill, reflecting on her tenure and the future of the association, welcomed Cartwright warmly. “I am delighted to welcome Lee into the UWLA and wish him every success,” she said. Orgill believes that under Cartwright's guidance, the UWLA is poised to explore new opportunities and initiate an exciting new chapter in its history.
Both Orgill and Cartwright will attend the upcoming ISH trade fair in Frankfurt, running from 17 to 21 March, where they will engage with members and stakeholders. In particular, Cartwright is set to address attendees during a press event hosted by the UWLA on Tuesday, 18 March, from 13:00 to 15:00 at room 4/4.2 Brillanz. This event will not only mark Cartwright's first major engagement in his new role but also serve as a platform for him to outline his vision for the UWLA moving forward.
The shift in leadership reflects a broader context within the plumbing and heating industry, where associations like the UWLA play a crucial role in advocating for standards, promoting innovation, and supporting their members in navigating sustainability challenges. The transition to new management aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance the association's relevance and effectiveness in serving its stakeholders.
As organisations continue to adapt to an evolving marketplace, the UWLA's strategic focus under Cartwright's direction will be closely observed by industry constituents. The forthcoming ISH event provides a timely opportunity for the UWLA to showcase its initiatives and bolster relationships within the industry, reaffirming its commitment to promoting water efficiency and sustainability in the plumbing and heating sectors.
