UKIFDA Show 2025 spotlights innovation and emerging talent in fuel distribution

The UKIFDA Show 2025 at Leeds drew over 700 professionals, unveiling new technologies and celebrating rising stars, as the liquid fuel sector drives collaboration and sustainability.

The UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) Show 2025, held on 14 May at Leeds’ First Direct Arena, successfully reinforced its status as the premier event for the liquid fuel distribution sector, drawing over 700 industry professionals. This year’s edition, guided by the theme ‘Be Part of the Solution’, was marked by a strong emphasis on innovation and collaboration, reflecting the sector’s proactive approach to evolving challenges and opportunities.

Exhibitors and delegates alike lauded the event’s organisation and atmosphere. Many highlighted the welcoming and inclusive environment, which fostered meaningful industry connections and networking. Ed Beazley, Investment Associate at Inspirit Capital / Watson Fuels, noted the invaluable nature of the networks formed and strengthened at the show, praising the plethora of ancillary services on display and the integration of advanced technologies such as AI within fuel distribution systems. Other participants, like Mike Smith, Managing Director of D.T.S. Powered by DeliverUP, expressed optimism about the industry's future, inspired by the dynamism of new leadership shaping its direction.

The show provided an effective platform for product launches and business development. The Hytek team, for instance, secured an order for a trial of their advanced fuel management system and introduced the Magnus tank monitor range, signaling potential for future large-scale rollouts. Similarly, Sentinam’s inaugural exhibition experience proved fruitful, with productive discussions focusing on fuel polishing equipment and pump maintenance. The event also stood out for its backdrop of technological advancements, such as remote tank monitoring systems by Otodata, which highlight the sector’s drive toward efficiency and environmental responsibility by reducing unnecessary deliveries and associated emissions.

UKIFDA also introduced ‘Speakers’ Corner’, a fresh and engaging format inspired by Hyde Park’s tradition of open debate. This feature was well received, providing an informal yet insightful forum that invigorated conversations around current and future industry trends. The integration of digital tools like the Whova app enhanced participant engagement, allowing attendees to connect, plan, and access key event information effortlessly, which contributed to the smooth running of the show.

Recognition of individual and corporate excellence remained a key highlight. The UKIFDA Awards celebrated achievements that underscore the industry’s commitment to quality service, sustainability, and innovation. Among the distinguished winners were Jack Helliwell for Customer Service, Jordan Ferlisi as Young Person of the Year, and Certas Energy for their contributions to green initiatives and safety standards.

Logistics and technology providers like Schenk UK and CODAS also underscored the event’s value, showcasing tailored solutions that address operational challenges and drive operational efficiency. Such participation reinforced the show’s role as a comprehensive marketplace and knowledge hub, where suppliers and buyers engage on multiple fronts.

The UKIFDA Show 2025 concluded with an evening reception, fostering further networking and reflection on the sector's direction. Collectively, the feedback and outcomes paint a picture of a fuel distribution community not waiting passively for policy shifts but actively steering a collaborative and innovative future. As noted by several attendees, sustaining this momentum will depend not only on technological advancements but also on attracting and retaining talent across all roles critical to the industry’s continued success.
