Logistics UK appoints Ben Fletcher as new CEO to lead sector’s policy influence and innovation
Logistics UK has announced the appointment of Ben Fletcher as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from 1 December 2025, with Fletcher assuming his full responsibilities at the start of the new year. Fletcher joins the organisation following a distinguished tenure at Make UK, where he held the position of Chief Operating Officer. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing public affairs, membership, and the business operations of the organisation, playing a central role in Make UK's successes over the past eight years.
Phil Roe, President of Logistics UK, welcomed Fletcher’s appointment as a strategic move to build on the existing successful leadership team. Roe emphasised that Fletcher’s leadership is expected to strengthen the organisation’s influence among policymakers and regulators, aiming to improve outcomes for the entire logistics sector. He highlighted that the appointment will enhance Logistics UK’s delivery for its members, particularly in public affairs and business services.
Ben Fletcher expressed pride in leading Logistics UK, describing it as one of the country’s most powerful trade associations and a key driving force behind what he called "the world’s best logistics industry." He acknowledged the logistics sector as the backbone of Britain’s economy, crucial for connecting people, products, and progress continuously. Fletcher committed to ensuring that the sector’s voice is strongly represented at the heart of government, especially as the industry faces significant economic challenges and opportunities. His goal is to equip members with the services, skills, and support they need to innovate, grow, and lead the future of logistics.
The transition also included recognition for the contributions of outgoing CEO David Wells, who served the organisation for 15 years. Additionally, Kevin Green, who has been serving as Acting CEO, was commended for his work and will continue at Logistics UK as Director of Policy, Marketing, and Communications in the new year.
Logistics UK’s appointment of Fletcher reflects a broader strategy to reinforce the sector's position within the policymaking landscape, ensuring the organisation is well-placed to advocate effectively for its members. Given the critical role logistics plays in the UK's economy—facilitating trade, supporting industries, and underpinning supply chains—the strong leadership at Logistics UK is poised to influence significant policy developments and regulatory frameworks in the coming years. This is particularly important as the logistics sector navigates post-pandemic recovery, evolving trade conditions, and emerging legislative challenges related to sustainability and technology adoption.
By leveraging Fletcher’s experience in managing membership services and public affairs at Make UK, Logistics UK aims to advance its member service offerings and policy advocacy, positioning itself as a vital partner for the sector’s continued growth. The organisation’s focus on innovation and government engagement underscores its commitment to support logistics businesses in adapting to the rapidly changing economic and regulatory environment.
