International Society of Automation Publishes New SCADA Modernisation Standard
The International Society of Automation has published a new standard, ISA-112 Part 1, which provides a framework for modernising Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems — more commonly known as SCADA making them easier to design, build, operate and maintain for automation and control professionals worldwide.
SCADA systems are widely used across critical infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, water and transport sectors to monitor and control industrial processes. The new standard addresses the need to update ageing SCADA infrastructure in a structured and interoperable way, providing guidance for engineers and organisations navigating modernisation projects in complex operational environments.
The ISA also set its industrial cybersecurity event for Prague this year. The event will feature breakfast forums, an exhibition, multiple speaker sessions and training opportunities. Industrial cybersecurity has become a growing priority for the automation sector, with a separate ISASecure webinar scheduled for April 29, 2026, covering the latest developments in SCADA security frameworks.
Founded in 1949, the ISA is a globally trusted provider of foundational standards-based technical resources for the industrial automation profession. It serves members working in engineering, technology and management across hundreds of countries, and maintains a library of internationally recognised consensus standards that underpin safe and effective automation practice worldwide.
