ICS signs MOU with YoungShips to support early career maritime professionals

Shipbrokers' institute signs three-year partnership with global youth maritime network.

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with YoungShips International to support the development of early career professionals in the global maritime sector. The agreement formalises a programme of joint activity on mentoring, professional development, networking, and advocacy.

Under the MOU, the two organisations will collaborate on events across ICS branches in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and on content aimed at graduates, apprentices, and those transitioning from seafaring careers into shore-based shipping roles. ICS has said the partnership complements its existing work with bodies such as the International Chamber of Shipping, the Nautical Institute, and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, each of which focuses on different parts of the maritime profession.

The MOU positions ICS's qualifications and continuing professional development more directly within the networks that many maritime professionals use in the first decade of their career. The Institute has said the agreement will run for an initial three-year period, with a joint review planned to assess the impact and member benefits.
