Green Events and Innovations Conference 2026 focuses on disruptive sustainability solutions

The 18th Green Events and Innovations Conference in London highlights strategies for making live events more sustainable and socially responsible through innovation and collaboration.

The Green Events and Innovations Conference (GEI) is set for its 18th edition on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. Recognised as the leading conference dedicated to event sustainability, GEI gathers industry pioneers to discuss pressing environmental and social challenges affecting events worldwide. Organised by A Greener Future (AGF) in partnership with the International Live Music Conference (ILMC), this year’s conference continues its tradition of fostering collaboration and innovation within the live events sector. The event enjoys significant sponsorship from notable industry figures, including Ecotricity—the world’s first green energy company—AEG, and The O2.

The conference agenda is designed to address a wide spectrum of sustainability topics relevant to music, sporting, and cultural events. Among the scheduled discussions are critical themes such as the operational impacts of extreme weather, energy efficiency, clean water and air initiatives, green touring practices, and the intersection of culture with social change and climate action. A particularly topical focus will be on boycotts, bans, and lawsuits, reflecting the complex socio-political landscape event organisers navigate. Additionally, the conference will explore how events and culture can play a vital role in countering societal polarisation by fostering deeper human connections.

Beyond the insightful talks, panels, and case studies, GEI18 offers attendees a comprehensive experience that includes a climate-friendly lunch, refreshments throughout the day, and a closing drinks reception. Networking remains a key highlight, providing unrivalled opportunities for professionals focused on event sustainability to connect and collaborate. For the first time, delegates will also receive complimentary access to Soho Calling, a music showcase festival organised by ILMC, strategically enhancing the event’s cultural and entertainment appeal.

A prominent feature of the conference is the Quick-Fire Innovation Round, an established session where delegates with pioneering solutions have the chance to pitch to peers and potential clients, underlining GEI's commitment to sparking industry innovation. The day culminates with the International AGF Awards 2026, sponsored by Skydiamond. These awards celebrate exemplary achievements in event sustainability across ten categories, including the highly regarded International Greener Festival Award, which this year is sponsored by Earth Positive Future.

GEI has a rich history of attracting esteemed speakers who are influential in both the creative and sustainability sectors. Previous participants have included renowned figures such as musician and environmental activist Brian Eno; electronic artist Moby; Dale Vince OBE, founder of Ecotricity; Danielle Magalhaes from the UNFCCC Climate Framework Secretariat; and prominent climate experts like Dr Clair Barnes from Imperial College London. This diverse cast underscores the conference’s role as a critical junction for thought leadership in the green events space.

Moreover, leading venues like The O2—owned by AEG Europe—underscore the momentum within the industry on sustainability efforts. The O2 recently attained 'Commended' status as an 'A Greener Arena' certified venue by A Greener Future, reflecting its significant strides in carbon removal events, energy efficiency, and waste management. This mirrors the broader focus of GEI to promote sustainable practices throughout the entire event ecosystem.

As the live events industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental footprint, GEI18 offers a vital platform for leadership, innovation, and collective action. For executives and organisations within associations, confederations, and trade bodies, the conference presents an indispensable opportunity to engage with cutting-edge strategies and forge partnerships that will help shape a more sustainable future for the sector.
