European Electronics Recyclers Association Appoints New Secretary General

Vanya Veras brings over 30 years of EU environmental policy and waste management experience to the role at EERA.

The European Electronics Recyclers Association has appointed Vanya Veras as its new Secretary General, with effect from 1 April 2026. She succeeds Julie-Ann Adams, who concluded her term at the end of March after more than four years in the role.

Veras brings over 30 years of experience in European affairs, environmental policy, waste management and stakeholder engagement across European institutions, industry and local authorities. She began her career in Brussels in 1995 and has held leadership roles in the waste management policy field, including contributing to the development of Municipal Waste Europe as a recognised sector organisation. More recently, she served as Environmental Affairs Manager at Coca-Cola Hellenic in Greece, focusing on energy, packaging and resource management.

The appointment comes at a significant moment for the sector, with the revision of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive underway at the European level, alongside continued focus on the circular economy as a policy and business priority. EERA President Kurt Kyck described the timing as important as the association works to strengthen the recognition of professional WEEE treatment operators and their role in Europe's resource efficiency efforts.

In her first statement in the role, Veras said she was pleased to join the EERA at a time of renewal of the WEEE Directive and continued focus on making the circular economy a reality in Europe. She described electronics recycling as a key contributor to resource efficiency and strategic autonomy in the supply of secondary raw materials to European industry.
