British Psychological Society opens President-Elect search
The British Psychological Society has opened nominations for its next President-Elect, inviting members to put themselves or others forward for one of the Society's most prominent leadership roles.
Nominations opened on 1 April 2026 for the 2026-2028 President-Elect term. The successful candidate will serve as President-Elect for two years before stepping into the Presidency for a further two years from 2028 to 2030.
The BPS is seeking a member with both the strategic vision and public credibility to lead a Royal Chartered body representing over 60,000 psychologists and psychology students across the United Kingdom. The role sits within the Society's Presidential Team, which operates in an ambassadorial capacity, separate from the Board of Trustees' governance and fiduciary responsibilities.
The announcement forms part of a broader initiative by the BPS to make its leadership more transparent and accessible to its diverse membership. The Society has also announced a series of in-person member forum sessions, beginning in London, to give members direct access to trustees and senior executives. A full review of the Society's five-year strategy is also underway, and the incoming President-Elect will play an active role in shaping the next chapter of that work.
Further details on the nomination process and eligibility criteria are available via the BPS website.
