AIPH opens registration for 77th Congress spotlighting AI and EU sustainability laws in Ghent
The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has officially opened registration for its 77th Annual Congress, set to take place from 14th to 18th September 2025 in the historic city of Ghent, Belgium. This prestigious five-day event invites delegates from across the globe to engage deeply with the themes of sustainability and technological innovation within the horticulture sector.
Organised in partnership with the Belgian host association AVBS and supported by major sponsors including Biblo, GLOBALG.A.P. & GGN Label, TTA-ISO, and WeLodge, the Congress offers a comprehensive programme designed to foster knowledge exchange and industry collaboration. Among the highlights is the AIPH International Horticultural Expo Conference, which will provide updates on upcoming AIPH-approved Expos such as the Green Expo 2027 in Yokohama, Japan, and the Expo 2029 in Korat, Thailand. These Expos are pivotal global events that showcase advances in horticultural practices and highlight innovation within the industry.
A major feature of the Congress is the International Horticultural Industry Conference, scheduled for 16th September. This conference will attract leading experts who will discuss pressing issues surrounding sustainability and technology. Key topics will include recent developments in EU legislation affecting horticulture, the adoption of sustainable growing media, and strategies to reduce chemical usage—a matter of considerable importance for environmental stewardship and consumer safety. Moreover, the conference will explore cutting-edge technological advancements including artificial intelligence integration, which is becoming increasingly influential in improving production efficiency and fostering innovation in ornamental horticulture.
The event stands out as a vital platform for delegates to tap into the latest global trends, connect with international peers, and build networks that can drive the sector forward. It also offers flexible registration options, allowing participants to attend the full Congress or select individual sessions according to their interests and schedules. Early bird registration discounts are available until 15 July 2025, encouraging early commitment from participants eager to secure their place.
Looking ahead, the Expo 2029 in Korat is drawing significant attention. Approved by AIPH, it is expected to be a monumental event running from November 2029 to February 2030, attracting between 2.6 million and 4 million visitors. With a theme centred on "Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future," the Korat Expo aims to highlight Thailand’s rich natural heritage, cultural diversity, and leadership in sustainable horticultural and agricultural technologies.
The 77th AIPH Annual Congress promises to be a cornerstone event for those invested in the future of horticulture, blending tradition with technological progress and a strong commitment to sustainability. Its setting in Ghent, a city renowned for its cultural heritage and vibrant green spaces, provides an inspiring backdrop for discussions aimed at shaping the global horticultural landscape for years to come.
