About the Organisation

Tyres Europe is the voice of the tyre manufacturing industry in Europe. The association represents 14 tyre companies and national tyre associations. Tyres Europe engages with policymakers to promote the industry's views, provide technical expertise, and help build a supportive legislative and regulatory environment.

Based in Brussels, the Secretariat is responsible for the planning, prioritisation and execution of the association’s work, including coordinating internal Groups to review EU and national legislative developments and develop advocacy positions with Members; providing timely technical expertise to policymakers; and engaging with counterparts across the automotive industry and other relevant external stakeholders.

About the role

Tyres Europe is seeking a (Senior) Manager, Communications to lead communications in support of the association’s advocacy, public affairs and wider organisational objectives. Working closely with the Secretary General, Director of Public Affairs and relevant Committees, the role will translate policy priorities into clear narratives and coordinated campaigns for the audiences that matter most. The role reports to the Secretary General and works closely with the Director of Public Affairs and relevant Committees.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape Tyres Europe’s internal and external communications narrative and develop impactful campaigns around political and regulatory developments affecting the industry, in support of the association’s advocacy objectives.
• Work closely with the Director of Public Affairs, Secretary General and relevant Committees to develop communications plans supporting priority advocacy files and stakeholder engagement.
• Translate policy positions and industry priorities into clear, compelling messages and communications content for policymakers, media, Members and other stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyse political, regulatory and media developments, including potential reputational impacts and opportunities to strengthen advocacy through communications.
• Create and maintain an integrated communications and advocacy calendar, and develop thought leadership and other strategic content.
• Manage social media, website and other communications channels in support of Tyres Europe’s policy and organisational priorities.
• Build relationships with key political, trade and tier-one media.
• Act as spokesperson for the organisation, supporting the Secretary General.
• Develop and maintain a crisis communications plan and provide communications support on sensitive issues.
• Manage internal Member communications, tools, materials and the Communications Committee.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Requirements:

• At least 6 years of experience in strategic communications around complex political, legislative and regulatory issues, ideally in an advocacy or public affairs environment.
• Existing network across political, trade and tier-one media.
• Sound understanding of the EU decision-making process and Brussels stakeholder environment.
• Previous experience in a trade association is a strong asset.
• Background or interest in the tyre or automotive industry would be an advantage.
• Self-motivated and ambitious achiever. Ability to build influential relationships and work in a small team.
• Able to work under pressure and deliver timely to deadlines.
• Fluent English skills, both oral and written. Other languages are an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical and policy issues into clear, compelling messages.
• Sense of responsibility and urgency.
• Based in Brussels or willing/able to relocate.

Required Qualifications

• Degree-level studies in communications, journalism, economics, management, public administration, technology, or a similar discipline.
