About the role
As a Research Engagement and Involvement Co-ordinator, you will support public and patient involvement and engagement activities across the MND Association's research programme. You will help coordinate key initiatives, including the Community Research Advisory Network and EnCouRage, ensuring people affected by motor neurone disease (MND) can contribute to research in meaningful and inclusive ways.
Responsibilities
Support Engagement Activities:
- Assist in organising webinars, seminars, workshops, podcasts, and other events that promote dialogue between researchers and the MND community.
- Maintain relationships with external institutions and support collaborative outreach efforts.
- Support study promotion through our Take Part in Research website page, including co-ordinating and maintaining study information to support recruitment and awareness.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for research meetings, including scheduling, communications and documentation.
Public and Patient Involvement:
- Support the implementation of the Association’s PPIE strategy through coordination of engagement activities.
- Co-produce engagement tools and resources with people affected by MND to support meaningful involvement in research.
- Help facilitate focus groups, surveys, and other methods to gather patient perspectives.
- Assist researchers with PPIE-related queries and provide relevant resources.
- Collect and summarise feedback from PPIE activities for reporting purposes.
Collaboration and Representation:
- Represent the Association in relevant meetings and events as required.
- Work closely with colleagues across teams to ensure consistent messaging.
- Assist in the delivery of internal training sessions on PPIE practices.
Operational and Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and participant data.
- Collect, collate and summarise evaluation and feedback data to inform reporting.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations summarising engagement efforts.
- Assist with budget tracking and procurement for engagement-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and ethical standards.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Essential:
- Experience supporting public engagement or PPIE initiatives.
- Experience working with diverse communities or in patient-facing roles.
- Skills and capabilities strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate scientific information clearly.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in digital tools and social media platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Close attention to detail and discretion in handling sensitive information.
Desirable:
- Experience in event coordination or workshop delivery.
- Familiarity with PPIE standards and practices.
- Understanding of the research landscape in health or neuroscience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate calibre or equivalent experience, ideally with a background in biological sciences, public engagement, or communications.

- Hybrid model, working in the Northampton office and remotely
