Expert Witness Institute (EWI) is the voice of the Expert Witness community; championing experts from all professional disciplines and the lawyers who use their services. Our mission is to support the proper administration of justice and the early resolution of disputes through high-quality expert evidence from specialists. The Board has invested in a Moodle-based Learning Management System which will give you a unique opportunity to shape our learning offer and increase participation in our Training and Events exponentially.
About the role
This role provides crucial administrative support for the successful operational delivery of EWI’s operations through effective administration and delivery of our Training and Events programme. The successful candidate will be a results-driven, positive, and highly motivated self-starter, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage their own workload. They will have experience of creating engaging learning content using Moodle and be an excellent communicator who can articulate the value of EWI’s products and services.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality programme of training and events to support aspiring and experienced expert witnesses
- Create engaging content for our Moodle-based Learning hub
- Engage and manage key stakeholders including trainers and speakers
- Respond to member queries, ensuring appropriate support is provided
- Support marketing activities and plans that increase membership and delegate levels
Main Duties:
- Work with the Marketing and Events Manager to develop the forward plan of Training and Events
- Suggest and source speakers and topics for EWI Training and Events and the Learning Hub
- Set up and manage all Training and Events using the Association Management System
- Liaise with speakers, sponsors and partners to ensure we have received all information before the event
- Host all online training and events
- Create, upload, and make available recordings post-event, adding value by creating additional learning activities and content
- Work with trainers, volunteers, and the EWI team to create engaging content for the learning hub
- Manage and prioritise queries through contact forms and email inboxes and provide responses
- Ensure Training and Events content on the website remains relevant and up to date
- Support the Marketing and Events Manager through delivering relevant marketing activities where required
- Support the development and delivery of the EWI Content Strategy
- Act as the "face" of the EWI at public events, conferences and other external events where required
- All other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the purpose and objectives of the role
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Essential:
- A business-minded, self-starter approach with the ability to maintain high quality standards
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload despite conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
- Results-driven, positive, and highly motivated
- Highly organised and able to plan, prioritise and deliver projects on time and within budget
- An excellent communicator who can articulate the value of EWI’s products and services
- A strong technical aptitude with experience of Microsoft Office and Webinar hosting (ideally Zoom)
- Experience of using Moodle to develop engaging learning content
- Ability to manage customer relationships and support clients and customers in a professional environment
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and social media skills
- Able to collaborate with a team of various disciplines or work independently as required
- Excellent attention to detail
- A passion for improvement and high-quality outcomes
Desirable:
- Experience of using Hootsuite, Canva, Dynamics CRM, and Vimeo
- Ability to undertake basic video editing using Vimeo, Corel Video, and similar products
- Customer-focused in product development and promotional activities
- Ability to synthesise and respond to the needs of members
- Ability to contribute to making sound judgements/decisions on operational activity and provide direct input so that informed analysis/judgements can be made.

Working locations
- Home-based
- This role requires regular evening work to host webinars. We usually run one evening webinar (occasionally two) per week during school term-time. These are usually on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening and currently finish no later than 9.00 pm. On this basis, working hours will need to be flexible to ensure that evening webinars are part of the working week. Time off in lieu will be granted where appropriate. The arrangements for this will be agreed in advance with the individual.
