About the role

The College is seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual to manage and deliver a varied programme of events for the English Divisions of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Reporting to the Head of Divisions, and working with an experienced team of staff and members, you should be a team player with excellent communication skills who is able to deliver a range of online and face-to- face events across England.

You will have a solid understanding of medical education events and will have experience of working in a membership organisation. You will be adept at building strong working relationships with members to produce events, as well as promoting the continuing engagement of the membership at a local level.

We need a flexible and confident individual to join our team who can hit the ground running and who will enjoy the variety promised by this role. The role entails regular travel across England with the need for occasional overnight stays. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage conferences, training events and membership engagement activities for the Division from initiation to evaluation
  • Attend and contribute to relevant Division Executive Committee meetings and liaise with Division Committee Managers to support Divisions in meeting their objectives for academic and membership engagement events
  • Prepare event budgets and ensure financial viability of income-generating events, control and manage expenditure in line with College objectives.
  • Prepare detailed budgets for designated training courses and conferences
  • Manage the involvement of medical students, foundation doctors and trainees in Division Conferences and events.
  • Manage Division Prizes, ensuring they are approved by the Education and
  • Training Committee and advertised and delivered in line with College guidelines
  • Manage and co-ordinate the preparation and production of designated training courses and conference documents/literature.
  • Responsible for the smooth onsite delivery of events.
  • To be prepared and willing to travel across England and stay away overnight when required.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Essential:

  • Good standard of education
  • Proven experience of organising, delivering, and budgeting for multiple events.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven flexibility and ability to adapt to any situation and think clearly and quickly
  • Proven ability to manage a large and varied workload independently, including off-site
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Experience of line managing staff
  • Proven ability to plan for and deal simultaneously with a variety of tasks
  • A proven track record of delivering a high standard of customer service skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
  • Experience of databases.
  • Experience of web editing
  • Willingness to travel and stay away overnight

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in a professional or related environment
