About the role

This is an exciting opportunity that will require the post-holder to work across multiple projects based within the College Centre for Quality Improvement at RCPsych, primarily:

  • Multi-source assessment for Consultant Psychiatrists (ACP 360)
  • Multi-source Assessment of Expert Practice (MAEP)
  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Surveillance System (CAPSS)

ACP 360 and MAEP provide online multi-source feedback systems for psychiatrists, supporting their appraisal and revalidation as doctors. CAPSS facilitates epidemiological research into rare mental health disorders and clinical events amongst children and adolescents. The role will also involve support to the Invited Review Service (IRS), which provides independent reviews commissioned by mental health services in response to concerns over the quality of care, management and governance.

The successful candidate will have an interest in multi-source feedback, quality improvement in patient care and mental health research. They will have experience of project management, an exceptional eye for detail and excellent organisational, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities include supervising the Project Administrator, overseeing project plans, managing, developing and testing online systems, data management, event planning, website management and support to the CAPSS Executive Committee and other advisory and review groups. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line manage project staff, including managing workload, managing performance, and promoting development in regular supervision sessions. Assist in the recruitment of new starters and inductions, including the probationary process.
  • Develop and deliver project plans to ensure that individual projects meet their objectives and deadlines, under the supervision of the Programme Manager.
  • To support the Programme Manager in delivering all aspects of the project(s), which may include:
    • Monitoring and resolving IT system issues, liaising with software developers and supporting improvements
    • Maintaining up-to-date documentation of project processes and systems for staff and external users
    • Assisting in planning and hosting advisory group and committee meetings
    • Updating webpage content and design
    • Producing project newsletters and member communications.
    • Providing excellent member service and support
    • Planning and delivering events online, or face-to-face learning events and workshops.
    • Support the Invited Review Service (IRS) Programme Manager in the planning and delivery of invited reviews of healthcare services.
    • Work collaboratively with IRS review teams and key stakeholders to coordinate and facilitate review activities throughout the review lifecycle.
    • Assist in the coordination of IRS committee meetings and support associated administrative and governance processes.
  • Be prepared to travel across the UK on occasion. Overnight stays may be required
  • Manage promotion and marketing to ensure continued growth of the project, under the supervision of the Programme Manager
  • Ensure project outputs are delivered promptly and to a high quality.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial administration for the project (invoicing and expenses) and assist the Programme Manager with the budget management and monthly forecasts.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Programme Manager.
  • Liaise and maintain good working relationships with key external stakeholders including the NHS and other national bodies.
  • Develop and maintain data management systems to collect and store data securely and efficiently, ensuring data quality (making sure data is accurate, accessible, complete, reliable, timely and valid)
  • Manage all data in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Carry out all duties safely and properly in accordance with the College's Health and Safety Policy.
  • Undertake any other duties related to the job purpose and which may be necessary in the development of the CCQI, and support other projects as needed.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Essential:

  • Experience of working with public sector services
  • A keen interest in health or social care and, in particular, mental health
  • Experience of report writing and editing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well presented with a confident and professional manner
  • Well-organised with ability to prioritise own workload and that of others
  • Experience of planning and delivering training/workshops
  • Experience of managing large electronic databases and controlling data quality
  • Experience of testing/improving software, systems or administrative processes
  • Knowledge of project management and research methodologies
  • Excellent skills in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Office365) and internet use

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with people who have mental health problems
  • Experience of speaking at external events 
  • Confident user of SPSS or equivalent statistical package
  • Experience of writing papers for publication
  • Experience of financial administration

  • Educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification
