About the Organisation

Founded in 1834, the RSS is one of the world’s leading organisations advocating for the importance of statistics and data. We are a charity, a professional body for statisticians and data scientists, and a membership organisation with thousands of members across the UK and internationally.

This is a new role and an exciting opportunity to bring additional marketing capacity and expertise into the Society. You will drive and support campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, bookings, enquiries and income across diverse areas such as membership, training, events, the annual conference, advertising, sponsorship, partnerships and venue hire.

About the role

The Marketing Officer is responsible for coordinating and delivering marketing activity across the Society’s commercial and engagement portfolio, supporting revenue, participation and membership objectives. Working closely with colleagues across the RSS, the postholder will plan, coordinate and execute integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring activity is insight-led, delivered on schedule and measured for effectiveness.

The role works in partnership with business area leads and the Digital and Content team to align campaigns with content, digital publishing, website updates, newsletters and marketing assets. While the Marketing Officer leads campaign coordination and execution, responsibility for editorial strategy, website standards, social media strategy, digital infrastructure and specialist content remains with the Digital and Content team.

Supplier coordination, team working and general duties:

  • Support effective marketing delivery through good coordination, supplier liaison and cross-organisational working.
  • Coordinate marketing schedules, suppliers, agencies and freelancers as required, ensuring work is delivered to agreed time, cost and quality expectations.
  • Support budget administration, purchase orders, invoice processing and records relating to marketing activity.
  • Act as a key point of marketing coordination across relevant RSS teams and support clear communication about campaign plans, priorities and deadlines.
