About the Organisation

Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is a non-profit umbrella organisation, bringing together 35 national and regional cancer leagues advocating for improved cancer control and care across Europe. Our vision is a Europe free of cancer. Our members are trusted, non-profit cancer organisations providing the public and patients with essential information, support, and care. We do not accept any support from the tobacco industry or any other companies that produce products that are deemed harmful to health.

About the role

The ECL Youth Ambassadors Programme brings together an inspiring and dedicated community of young health advocates raising awareness about cancer prevention, with the European Code Against Cancer as their main powerful tool. Since its launch in 2015, the programme has united young people from over 30 countries across Europe, creating a dynamic network of students and young professionals from diverse fields such as medicine, public health, law, and political science. The programme organises activities, events and online campaigns to empower its participants to play an active role in cancer prevention at the EU and national level.

We are looking for a part-time coordinator for our Youth Ambassadors (YA) programme. The freelance consultant shall provide operational support for the YAs, in collaboration with the ECL secretariat and the Board. In this role, you will coordinate and lead the YA programme, ensuring its smooth development and the implementation of the Action Plan and Strategy.

The YA coordinator will report directly to ECL’s senior policy officer for cancer prevention and work closely with ECL’s team. Priority consideration will be given to current or past members of the ECL YA group; however, we will consider all applications with the greatest care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and leadership of the YA programme
  • Drafting, implementing, monitoring and reporting the Action Plans and the Strategy
  • Supporting the Secretariat with funding opportunities
  • Organisation of the Summer School and possibly other events

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Required:

  • Familiar with the YA programme
  • Trustworthiness and reliability
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience or strong interest in cancer prevention
  • Keen on an international and multicultural environment

Required Qualifications

  • University degree

Compensation & Benefits

  • An hourly rate of 30 euros, between 10 and 20 hours per month, depending upon activities for the month and availability of the coordinator
  • Remote working

  • Remote or Brussels, Belgium
