We defend the interests of more than 100 million persons with disabilities in Europe. We are run by persons with disabilities and their families. About the role
The European Disability Forum is recruiting a Communications Officer to strengthen its Communications team. Reports to: Communications Manager. To ensure the visibility of EDF’s activities, with a focus on digital content, social media, and design of publications and promotional materials. All tasks are to be implemented based on decisions adopted by EDF governing bodies and coordinated by the Communications Manager.
Responsibilities
Support Planning & Coordination:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of EDF’s annual communications plan.
- Contribute to the editorial calendar in collaboration with the Communications Manager, Senior Communications Officer, and EDF staff.
- Safeguard and strengthen the visual identity of the organisation.
Develop EDF’s Digital Presence:
- Plan and deliver accessible social media campaigns on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Create accessible digital content, including short videos, visuals, and written posts.
- Collaborate with social media content creators in specific campaigns.
- Develop and implement EDF information campaigns on specific themes.
- Review and update the EDF website, including content and visuals.
- Coordinated with the website provider to ensure technical requirements are up to date.
- Engage with external partners (EU institutions, civil society, industry stakeholders) to promote joint initiatives, campaigns, or events.
- Produce EDF’s weekly and monthly newsletters.
Support Development of EDF’s Publications:
- Coordinate the production of accessible publications, such as our flagship Human Rights reports, annual report and other online and print publications.
- Liaise with EDF staff and external service providers to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure appropriate visibility of EDF partners and supporters in publications and events.
- Support the design of event-related materials (agendas, presentations, badges, digital materials).
Support other Communications Activities and Monitoring:
- Support EDF staff with external communication needs.
- Contribute to the communication coverage of EDF events and events in which EDF participates.
- Monitor and report on the reach and impact of EDF communications, in collaboration with the management team.
- Undertake additional tasks as required by the Communications Manager
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in communications roles in similar organisations (human rights organisations, NGOs, political organisations) in companies.
- Proven ability to simplify complex information and create clear and engaging content.
- Working knowledge of Content Management Systems (WordPress preferred) and email marketing tools (Mailchimp preferred)
- Familiarity with video and design tools (Adobe suite, Canva, Photoshop )
Desirable:
- Persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
- Experience in accessible and inclusive communications.
- Knowledge of disability rights or related policy fields.
- Experience in policy, advocacy, or institutional communications.
Compensation & Benefits
- 24 days of leave plus the week between 25 December and 1st January (these days do not count as part of your annual leave).
