INWIC launches mentorship programme to empower women in cooling industry

The International Network of Women in Cooling has introduced a new initiative to promote career advancement and knowledge sharing for women and professionals in the RACHP sector.

To commemorate International Women’s Day, the International Network of Women in Cooling (INWIC) has introduced a new Mentorship Programme aimed at promoting career advancement and knowledge sharing within the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump (RACHP) industry. The initiative seeks to address the limited mentorship opportunities available in the cooling sector worldwide, creating an accessible platform for women and other industry professionals, particularly in developing countries.

Launched as part of a broader commitment to enhance the representation and success of women in the cooling industry, the Mentorship Programme is inclusive, catering to professionals across the spectrum—from technicians and engineers to managers and industry leaders. Recognising that technical proficiency is essential in this field, the programme specifically includes provisions for technicians seeking professional development and practical guidance. This aspect is designed to furnish participants with valuable insights into best practices and career progression tactics.

The Mentorship Programme features a structured three-month mentorship cycle that can be renewed, allowing mentees to connect with experienced professionals within the global cooling industry. Through these relationships, participants will be able to gain tailored career guidance geared towards their individual goals, whether they are just beginning their careers, are established in mid-level positions, or are poised to transition into leadership roles.

Mentees will be matched with seasoned mentors from various geographical backgrounds, facilitating the exchange of diverse industry practices, insights, and career trajectories. The aim is to enhance understanding of the various pathways one can pursue within the cooling sector.

A noteworthy element of this initiative is its integration with MentorCity mentoring software. This platform ensures that all communication between mentors and mentees occurs within a secure framework, eliminating the need for individuals to exchange personal information. This not only provides an added layer of security for all participants but also enhances the mentoring experience by incorporating improved tools and functionalities provided by the software.

The INWIC has extended an open invitation to individuals within the RACHP sector to engage with this initiative, encouraging both mentors and mentees to register on the INWIC website to take advantage of this complimentary service designed to foster professional development within the industry.

This new endeavour underscores the commitment of INWIC to support the growth of women and underrepresented individuals in the cooling sector, as well as to strengthen industry knowledge and practices through collaborative learning. The initiative marks a significant step towards breaking down barriers in a field where mentorship has historically been scarce, thus contributing to the cultivation of a more inclusive and knowledgeable workforce.
