Communicating with and engaging a linguistically, culturally and geographically disparate membership

As global organizations begin to operate in new geographies, often with a markedly different culture to that which ‘gave birth’ to the organization, it becomes increasingly important to understand and appreciate the differences and similarities between members (and staff) across the globe and how those differences can be approached. This session offers considerations and ideas as to how this can be achieved. Why this is important in meeting the strategic objectives of global associations Overview of the challenges and opportunities associated with a disparate membership Establishing the expectations of your members and how to involve them in the work of the association Examining the benefits and pitfalls of working with a diversified leadership Competences and skills required of the association staff Cost/benefit analysis: resources mobilized versus the benefits to the organization
