About the role
Eurocities is recruiting a Social Affairs and Administrative Officer to support the social affairs team in delivering EaSI 2026 and 2027 activities. Eurocities has a dedicated Social Affairs Forum (SAF) that brings together over 150 cities to work jointly to address major social challenges such as employment, education, homelessness, housing, poverty, and social exclusion of vulnerable individuals, a lack of access to the labour market for vulnerable groups, or population ageing.
The EU employment and social innovation (EaSI) operating grant supports Eurocities policy, data collection, exchanges of experience, know-how, and transfer of innovative solutions among cities on social inclusion. As Social Affairs and Administrative Officer, you will work as part of the Social Affairs team, reporting to the Head of Social Affairs, to support the implementation of the EaSI grant.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support (50%)
- Provide general administrative support to the Head of Social Affairs
- Manage internal and external correspondence on behalf of the Head of Social Affairs
- Schedule appointments, manage calendars and book work trips,
- Write and share accurate and complete meeting minutes
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation, deliverables, and internal records
- Support the organisation of the EaSI External evaluation
Social Affairs (50%)
- Support the organisation of a session on anti-poverty during Eurocities' Annual Conference (briefings, invitation to speakers, follow-up, drafting of the report)
- Support the organisation of a mutual learning event on homelessness (selection of host city, conceptualisation of the agenda together with colleagues, regular meetings with the host city, invitation to speakers and participants, logistical support, on-site support, follow-up, drafting of the report)
- Support the organisation of the Social Innovation Lab on local anti-poverty strategies (selection of host city, conceptualisation of the agenda together with colleagues, regular meetings with the host city, invitation to speakers and participants, moderation of workshops, follow-up, drafting of the report)
- Support the team with other relevant policy or project tasks where appropriate.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
- One year of relevant work experience
- Excellent written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset
- Strong interest in social policies
- Attention to detail
- Flexible to work on diverse tasks
- Experience in organising in-person and remote meetings
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively
- Communication and collaboration skills in a multi-cultural environment, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (including Teams, SharePoint, and Planner). Familiarity with Odoo and Notion is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, as well as within a team of 9 people.
Required Qualifications
- Education: a Master's degree or equivalent in social policies, social sciences, urban development, EU studies or related fields

Conditions of employment
- Position as an employee, under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address)
