About the Organisation

REScoop.eu is the European federation of energy communities and represents over 2.500 energy communities and 2 million citizens across Europe. REScoop.eu follows up on relevant policy issues, represents the voice of energy communities towards European policy and decision makers, and promotes the cooperative energy business model. We support the start-up of new grassroots initiatives and provide services to our members. While our team represents a variety of different nationalities, our working language is English.

About the role

As a Senior Communications Officer, you will be integrated into our growing communications team and contribute to the core communication activities of our association. Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Senior Communications Officer plays a central role in strengthening the visibility and reputation of REScoop.eu. The position combines operational and strategic communication tasks, with a high degree of autonomy, expertise, and responsibility.

The role includes internal communication, member communication, and project communication in EU projects. Signing up for the position of Senior Communications Officer provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to shaping tomorrow’s energy system and providing opportunities for local actors.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as project communications lead for one or more EU-funded projects (reporting, consortium meetings, deliverables, keeping track of project expenditures)
  • Effectively disseminating outputs generated by the federation, its projects, and members ( policy papers, reports, press releases, stories) to targeted audiences
  • Managing REScoop.eu’s social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement analysis
  • Coordinating with service providers to improve and add features to the Energy Communities Platform and REScoop.eu website;
  • Designing engaging and creative visuals to support messaging using tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva
  • Writing articles for the REScoop.EU website, collecting input from the team, REScoop.eu’s projects and partners
  • Conducting capacity-building activities for members, such as workshops or training sessions on communication topics
  • Regularly updating the REScoop.EU website and the Energy Community Platform by uploading articles, resources, members' information, and policy papers to the back-end of these websites (Craft CMS and WordPress, respectively)
  • Supporting the Communications Manager in developing and implementing the federation’s communications strategy.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in communications work
  • How to run an organisation’s communications operations
  • Strong project management skills
  • Familiar with website management systems (craft cms/WordPress) and (social) media monitoring tools;
  • Outstanding team player who is ready to work in an international environment.
  • Strong will for goal achievement and a high efficiency rate.
  • Work independently and proactively, handle responsibilities and respect deadlines
  • Outstanding communication and English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Experience working with traditional graphic design tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, is a plus
  • Willing to travel within Europe
  • Interested in renewable and sustainable energy. Understanding of the cooperative business model is a plus

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in communications/media relations/public relations or a similar subject area
