About the Organisation
European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) is a leading European network of regional energy and climate agencies. We facilitate the development of interregional partnerships and projects, promote the regional dimension in debates on sustainable energy and the environment, and help regions develop their capacity to take action for the energy and climate transition. We offer a position with responsibility and focus on EU projects ’ activities within a well-established European association (35+ years), representing members from 25 European countries and active in one of the most strategic areas of current European politics.
About the role
European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment is looking for a Project Officer (Climate Adaptation, Strategic Partnerships). You will mainly be involved in FEDARENE’s activities focusing on adaptation to climate change, including EU-flagship projects from the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. You will also be involved in the rollout of FEDARENE’s services to its members, especially in the scope of our Working Group on Climate Resilience.
Responsibilities
Tasks:
- Design and implement a capacity-building programme for public authorities on adaptation to climate change
- Organise events (webinars, workshops, policy dialogues, etc) from start to end (planning, implementation and reporting) and support the organisation of high-level events
- Draft deliverables and ensure an efficient and on-time delivery of all outputs, including technical & financial reports
- Support the overall rollout of FEDARENE’s services to its members, and especially the working group on climate resilience
- Support other colleagues in the implementation of their EU projects ’ activities
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Education & Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role. What we will evaluate positively is experience in the following areas:
- Implementation of EU-funded projects or initiatives (Horizon Europe, Interreg, LIFE)
- Supporting local and/ regional authorities in their energy/climate transition
- Event organisation (multiple formats)
- Organisation and delivery of peer-to-peer programmes for public officials.
- Collaboration/engagement with EU climate and adaptation policy processes, initiatives and networks.
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, especially MS Excel
- Ability to deeply understand technical issues and to translate them into policy recommendations for novice audiences.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and analytical skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Fluency in spoken and written English at a C1 minimum level.
- Knowledge of other EU languages (C1) is considered an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of EU policies on climate.
- Basic knowledge of the EU climate resilience landscape.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
