Eurovent is the European Industry Association for Indoor Climate (HVAC), Process Cooling, and Food Cold Chain Technologies. Our association acts as a bridge between our members and the EU institutions to enable heating, cooling, and ventilation technologies to contribute to the EU’s sustainability ambitions. We represent more than 1.000 organizations from over 30 countries, most of which are SMEs.
About the role
As Policy Officer for Energy, you will lead our policy work on energy files (building policy, energy efficiency, heating decarbonisation, sustainable cooling, data centres, heat recovery) on behalf of Eurovent. The role allows you to develop a valuable stakeholder network and develop expertise in some of Europe’s flagship policies. We value independence: as long as you do your job thoroughly and meet deadlines, we are flexible concerning when and how you do it. You will be joining a small, international Team and working with organisations from more than 30 countries daily. You will report to the Deputy Secretary General.
Responsibilities
- Monitor EU policy developments and identify hooks, risks, and opportunities
- Take the initiative to plan and implement appropriate advocacy responses
- Prepare briefing materials to inform members on EU policy developments
- Consult with members and drive consensus towards common positions
- Draft and deliver position papers, arguments, presentations, and speaking points
- Coordinate advocacy actions with other associations and partners
- Proactively reach out to policymakers and maintain a network across EU institutions
- Represent Eurovent in consultations and direct communications with decision makers
- Work closely with the communications and events team to set up effective campaigns.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Previous professional experience in relevant EU policy fields (Energy, Environment, Industry, Single Market) at a European association, PR consultancy, or EU institution
- Intimately familiar with the EU institutional landscape and legislative processes
- Proven track record of planning and implementing effective advocacy campaigns
- Bring a pre-existing network in the Brussels policy sphere
- Talent for networking and managing relationships constructively, diplomatically, and with discretion
- Exceptional communicator and public speaker (in English), able to translate complex issues into simple messages
- Self-starter and self-motivated, take initiative, and be comfortable working independently.
