Association for Mathematics in Education
Hours
35 hours per week
About the Organisation
AMiE launched in December 2025, from a merger of five long-established mathematics subject associations, to form a sustainable and collaborative organisation to support the whole sector. AMiE is a registered charity, with the majority of our income coming from membership subscriptions and activities such as our Maths Challenges for primary schools.
Our team of 8 staff (including this post) are responsible for delivering AMiE’s day-to-day operations, with the support of volunteers and our board of Trustees. We are a small, supportive and hardworking team. Most of our staff are predominantly office-based, with a range of full and part-time roles.
We promote a balance of collaboration and autonomy, with regular team meetings and cross-role project groups, alongside promoting ownership of individual workstreams. As an organisation rooted in the education sector, we promote continuous development and learning across our team with a range of training and development opportunities.
AMiE currently has around 3500 members, the majority of whom transferred from the merging organisations. The majority of these are individual memberships, with a significant proportion also being organisational memberships from schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions.
AMiE members represent all parts of the mathematics education sector, including but not limited to;
- Student and early career teachers
- Practising primary and secondary teaching staff
- Further, community education practitioners
- Wider curriculum and education sector professionals
- Volunteers and retired practitioners
Membership Priorities Our membership priorities for 2026-27 include:
- The development and implementation of a new CRM system and website (on course to be completed in autumn 2026)
- Development of our Member Interest Communities, which lead our work and direction on particular areas such as teacher training, SEND, CPD and further education.
- Development and implementation of a membership growth strategy to secure membership growth, retention and satisfaction.
