About the Organisation

The Coalition is committed to promoting fair, future-proof policies that foster innovation and investment in the European audiovisual internal market. The Coalition’s work focuses on three key priorities:

  • Investing in Europe’s Stories: Advocating for policies that enable substantial investment in original European content.
  • Championing Consumer Choice: Ensuring diverse, high-quality, and accessible content, including content portability across the EU.
  • Promoting Safety and Sustainability: Supporting safe digital experiences, editorial responsibility, and sustainable production.

About the role

The European Video on Demand (VOD) Coalition is the leading voice for the streaming sector in the EU, representing companies of all sizes that invest in and distribute European content. The EU VoD Coalition is seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Executive Director to lead its strategic advocacy, enhance its presence, and champion the growth of a competitive and consumer-focused VOD ecosystem across Europe.

This critical role will be retained and managed by EU Strategy, a specialized consultancy, but will be directly accountable to the EU VoD Coalition Board. As the Executive Director, you will be the public face and strategic leader of the Coalition, with a mandate.

Why you should be interested in this role:

  • Join the organization at a crucial time and help further expand its reach and activities in Europe.
  • Work with a highly qualified and driven Board, in an environment that offers a lot of space for own initiative and professional growth.
  • Get exposure towards key decision makers and partners within the community, as well as leading international businesses.

Responsibilities

Strategic Advocacy and Policy Leadership:

  • Drive the Coalition’s advocacy efforts across the EU institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council), policymakers, media, and civil society.
  • Lead policy analysis and develop impactful positions on key files of relevance to the streaming sector.
  • Pinpoint and manage high-level engagement opportunities for the Coalition.

Stakeholder Engagement and Representation:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson, representing the Coalition’s diverse membership and providing a strong, collaborative voice for the streaming sector.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key EU stakeholders, partners across the creative and cultural sectors, and relevant media outlets.
  • Work to expand the Coalition’s presence and visibility in the Brussels arena.

Coalition Management and Growth (supported by EU Strategy):

  • Lead the day-to-day management, ensuring continuity of all Coalition activities and, crucially, administrative functions.
  • Focus on identifying and attracting new members representing video-on-demand and digital entertainment companies that distribute and invest in European content.
  • When applicable, drive the process to commission and finalize key studies that showcase the VOD sector’s value and impact in Europe.
  • Drive meaningful engagement across the full membership.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, or Public Affairs within the EU policy landscape, ideally within the media and streaming industry. Prior experience in trade associations (consensus building, member management) will be a plus.

Expertise:

  • Very good knowledge of key EU digital and content files (AVMSD, DSA, Copyright) is desirable

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to translate complex policy into clear, actionable advocacy arguments.

Personal Qualities:

  • A highly collaborative consensus builder, motivated and skilled in strategic thinking, able to work independently and take initiative. A passionate champion for the streaming sector’s contribution to European content and innovation.
