About the role
Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting an events & membership officer to work in the Eurocities events team. Responsibilities
- You will work as part of the Eurocities events & membership team, under the supervision of the Director of Outreach and Member Engagement. In this role, you will:
- Support the organisation of different types of events, for example, peer exchanges, project events, thematic events, and corporate events
- Support membership activities and implementation of administrative procedures to support communities of experts.
Events:
- Supporting the organisation of different types of events, including peer exchanges, project events, and thematic events
- Assisting with event registrations, invitations, and liaising with host cities
- Providing on-site support and acting as a liaison during events, including travel in Europe when required
- Coordinating and overseeing event logistics, such as identifying venues, technical equipment, shipments, rooming lists, travel coordination, signage and displays, and catering, as well as other logistical tasks
- Providing general administrative support (including follow-up on invoices with the different suppliers) and operational support to the events team as required
Membership:
- Preparing and supporting membership-related communications, including newsletters and website content
- Assisting with the implementation of administrative procedures to support communities of experts
- Providing onboarding support for new members
- Providing general administrative support for membership activities as required
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Skills & Experience:
- 1-2 years of relevant professional experience in events, membership support, administration, and a related field
- Experience supporting the organisation of in‑person and online events
- Full proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence working in an international and multicultural context
- Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders, including partners, members, and external suppliers
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently under supervision
- A structured, reliable, and problem‑solving approach to day‑to‑day tasks

Conditions of employment
- Position as an employee, under Belgian legislation. The selected candidate will need to either live in Belgium or be willing to move to Belgium for the duration of the contract (candidates need to provide a Belgian address)
