About the role

This role leads the development and delivery of the Spinal Injuries Association’s (SIA) training, learning and professional development offer. The successful candidate will manage the delivery of high‑quality programmes that strengthen the knowledge, skills and confidence of professionals supporting people with spinal cord injury (SCI).

Key responsibilities include expanding SIA’s existing training offer, creating advanced and tailored learning packages for a range of audiences across health, social care, education, the voluntary sector and wider community partners. Programmes are delivered through flexible formats online, in‑person and hybrid and are adaptable to different organizations’ CPD requirements.

A core part of the role will be to manage the ongoing development and improvement of SIA’s Knowledge Hub, ensuring it remains current, accessible and aligned with best practice. This includes enhancing content quality, identifying gaps, and ensuring the platform supports both SIA’s training programmes and the wider SCI community.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Spinal Cord Injury Centres, major trauma centres, district general hospitals and external providers to maintain strong sector relationships and uphold SIA’s reputation as a trusted source of expertise. Strong organizational, creative and project management skills are essential to coordinate complex schedules and drive forward SIA’s learning and knowledge offer.

Responsibilities

Education Programme Design & Delivery:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and growth of the Academy’s clinical training portfolio, ensuring courses, study days and conferences respond to sector needs, delegate feedback and available funding.
  • Expand and diversify the Academy’s offer for healthcare professionals, increasing capacity, course range and structured development pathways for HCPs, carers and PAs.
  • Oversee the design, delivery and evaluation of key events, including the annual HCP conference and Spotlight sessions for both members and healthcare professionals.
  • Build and manage a high ‑quality network of subject ‑matter experts, including trainers, speakers and content creators, ensuring content is accurate, evidence-based, and accessible.
  • Drive national awareness and uptake of FWA learning, securing CPD accreditation where appropriate and promoting consistent engagement across the healthcare community.

Quality Assurance & Evaluation:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of all learning content and factsheets, including review schedules, quality assurance, clinical accuracy, and compliance with PIF TICK and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee development of new educational materials, from scoping and commissioning to creation, sign-off, and implementation.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training through feedback, peer review and data analysis, using insights to improve future programmes.
  • Maintain accurate records, statistics and written reports for all training activities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain relationships with health and care settings and providers to shape and promote training provision.
  • Collaborate with Services, Communications and other SIA departments to design, deliver and promote engaging training and holistic support for healthcare professionals.
  • Use internal and external feedback to maximise engagement and improve the Academy’s training.
  • Promote awareness - through delivery, advocate for improved standards of care and SIA’s wider offer.

Leadership & Operational Management:

  • Lead the Health and Care Advisory Group, Members Advisory Group and Factsheet Review
  • Group, ensuring lived experience and clinical expertise inform the development, review, and maintenance of high -quality educational content.
  • Oversee and optimise the use of SIA’s Learning Management and CRM System, identifying improvements that enhance learner experience and operational efficiency.
  • Support the Head of Academy with preparing, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on programme budgets.
  • Report on performance and activity to inform decision-making.
  • Undertake any other duties or projects commensurate with the role.

  • Reporting to: Head of Academy
  • Direct reports: Health & C are Quality Team, Coordinator

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Experience:

  • Proven experience in planning, delivering and evaluating clinical training
  • programmes, study days, events or conferences at scale.
  • Experience overseeing the full lifecycle of learning content, including planning, commissioning, quality assurance, review schedules and compliance with relevant standards (PIF TICK, clinical governance and regulatory requirements).
  • Experience managing the development of new educational materials from initial scoping and commissioning through to creation, clinical review, sign-off, and implementation.
  • Experience of managing or collaborating with subject -matter experts, including clinicians, trainers, facilitators, speakers and content contributors.
  • Experience of securing or working within CPD accreditation frameworks. 
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), Microsoft, e‑learning tools and digital content creation.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to oversee multiple programmes, stakeholders and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with trainers, partners, and healthcare organisations. 
  • Ability to gather, interpret and act on delegate feedback, sector needs, and funding opportunities to shape programme development.
  • Competent in analysing data, extracting insights and presenting findings for decision making and continuous improvement. 
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Creative, innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification, and equivalent experience in health, education, and a related professional field.
  • Strong understanding of clinical education, workforce development or CPD in the healthcare sector.
