About the role

The Editorial Coordinator is responsible for all operational aspects of a number of ECPR’s journals, including the editorial and peer review process, administration and governance, marketing and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong working relationships with all members of the editorial teams, publishers, staff members and other stakeholders to support the smooth running and success of the publications. 
  • Ensure editors are following agreed processes and adhering to related policies as set by ECPR and the publisher, flagging any issues or concerns as soon as they arise. 
  • Act as the first point of contact between editors, publisher and ECPR, ensuring all parties are informed and up to date; all training needs met, and all queries resolved promptly. 
  • Coordinate peer review process – from submission to peer review to rejection/acceptance and delivery to the publisher. 
  • Regularly review process, workflow and practices against other journals and industry best practices to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement, collaborating with others to implement change.
  • Monitor editorial teams’ term dates and, when required, coordinate mid-point reviews and the search and selection, handover and induction processes as per agreed timelines and procedures for new editors. 
  • Provide regular reporting on the status of manuscripts and overall trends to the editorial team/s and ECPR as and when required. 
  • Provide reports/contributions to ECPR’s Executive Committee meetings, and to the Board packs of Publications Subcommittee meetings, as and when required. 
  • Work alongside the Data Analyst to produce annual reports for the journals. Assist Editorial teams with writing reports for the Publications Subcommittee, collating and selecting the most useful and relevant data for ECPR, and ensuring delivery by agreed deadlines. 
  • Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of editorial and other meetings throughout the year as and when required; and support the organisation of annual reporting meetings and a Publications Retreat, as and when required. 
  • Support the implementation of all marketing activities related to the journals for which you are responsible, and others where needed, across all channels. This includes developing content for email marketing campaigns and monitoring their success and impact against agreed KPIs. 
  • Manage the social media accounts for the publications, regularly posting and sharing content from the publications and their authors and contributors, and monitoring their success and impact against agreed KPIs. 
  • Coordinate with other staff, editors and publishers where relevant to create and deliver campaigns to promote specific publications and the wider publishing programme – monitoring success and impact against agreed KPIs. 
  • Coordinate with editors of ECPR’s blog site, The Loop, to identify newsworthy articles to develop into short-form blog pieces. 
  • Working with others, coordinate the publications’ presence at ECPR and other events to support the profile and impact. 

ECPR Press:

  • Working with others, coordinate marketing campaigns for all titles in backlist, including special collections, activities and events. 
  • Oversee and coordinate all administrative elements of maintaining the backlist of books, print on demand, sales and fulfilment, marketing, and promotion. 

Other Tasks and Requirements:

  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.

  • Represent ECPR at events, functions and meetings, as needed. This may involve foreign travel and overnight stays away from home.
