About the Organisation

Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is the leading professional membership body for clinical radiologists and clinical oncologists, and a registered charity that educates and supports doctors throughout their careers. With over 14,000 members in the UK and internationally, together we’re contributing to the advancement of each new generation of doctors and helping to improve patients’ lives.

We require a broad range of skills and experience to deliver our strategic goal of increasing the clinical radiology and clinical oncology workforce, ultimately improving imaging and cancer care services for all. If our strategy and values inspire you and you are passionate about helping us meet our ambitious goals in an environment that celebrates differences, values diversity, and recognises that everyone here plays a role in the success of the College, then we encourage you to consider a career at the RCR.

About the role

We’re looking for a Digital Content Officer who can spot a good story and the people who can help tell it and make it work hard across our channels. You’ll create content from scratch, find fresh angles, and adapt and repurpose for different audiences and platforms.   You’ll help shape and deliver our day-to-day content across web, email, social media and campaigns, commissioning content where needed, and finding opportunities to connect activity across channels.

Social media will be an important part of the role, from creating and scheduling content to community management and social listening. Working closely with the Content Manager and colleagues across Content, Brand, Web, External Affairs and Membership, you’ll turn strategic priorities into practical content plans, manage a busy forward content calendar and coordinate delivery across teams.

Why work with us?

The RCR is a membership organisation and charity that works with our Fellows and members to improve the standard of medical practice across the fields of clinical radiology and clinical oncology. You’ll join a collaborative Communications Directorate and a Content team working across some of the College’s most visible member-facing channels, in a varied role with plenty of opportunity to shape how we engage our members.

Responsibilities

  • Spot opportunities for engaging content and stories, identifying the people, ideas and activity that will resonate with our members and audiences.
  • Create, edit and repurpose content across web, email, social media and campaigns, adapting it for different channels and audiences.
  • Own and manage the day-to-day digital content plan, maintaining the forward calendar and ensuring activity is coordinated and delivered on time.
  • Create and commission digital content and assets, working with colleagues and our Brand team to bring ideas to life.
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of our social media content, including publishing, scheduling, community management and moderation.
  • Use social listening, audience insight and performance data to understand what our audiences are interested in and identify opportunities to improve our content.
  • Work with colleagues across the Communications Directorate and wider College to coordinate content, manage contributors and deadlines, and keep delivery on track.
  • Ensure digital content is accessible, accurate, on brand and follows digital best practice.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

  • Strong editorial judgement and significant experience creating, editing and repurposing digital content for different channels and audiences.
  • Significant experience managing social media channels, with a good understanding of how to create content that drives engagement and conversation.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to find the right angle and turn complex or detailed information into clear, engaging content.
  • Experience planning and coordinating digital content across multiple channels, such as web, email and social media.
  • Experience commissioning content and assets, including graphics or multimedia.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate activity across teams and manage competing deadlines.
  • Confidence using audience insight and performance data to understand what is working and inform future content.
  • A collaborative approach, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to build relationships with colleagues and contributors across an organisation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Modern working environment with home‑working equipment provided
  • Generous annual leave, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days
  • Enhanced family‑friendly leave (maternity, paternity and adoption) for those with 2+ years of continuous service
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Make a difference to the lives of Doctors and medical specialties
  • Up to 60% remote working
  • Sabbaticals (5+ years’ service) and secondment opportunities
  • Interest‑free season ticket loan and cycle to work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Long service recognition awards
