About the role
A Digital & AI Policy Advisor (DAIPA) is a strategic role that bridges complex technology and regulatory governance. These professionals analyze tech regulations, draft ethical guidelines, and advise organizations or governments on how to adopt artificial intelligence safely while complying with emerging global, regional, or national laws.
Responsibilities
Policy Foresight and Analysis:
- Proactively analyse and assess EU digital & AI policy developments affecting all parts of the electricity value chain, including:
- Strategic Roadmap for digitalisation and AI in the energy sector.
- Digital omnibus (Data & AI omnibus )
- EU Cloud and AI Development Act
- Proactively analyse and assess supply chain, climate, and cyber resilience developments affecting grid operators (DSOs), including Cybersecurity Act II; PFAS restriction under REACH regulation, the Commission’s Climate resilience initiative
- Create consensus and build pan-European positions on the above topics.
- Draft position papers, amendments, and respond to public consultations
- Ad hoc actions such as drafting briefings, curating roundtables, etc.
Public Advocacy:
- Support and strengthen the association’s advocacy towards EU institutions and policymakers, notably: DG ENER, DG CONNECT, MEPs, Energy & digital policy attaches. Others include ECHA, DG GROW, and DG ENVI.
- Execute dissemination and advocacy campaigns
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Execute work plans of Working Groups, including organising and coordinating the related member activities (WG meetings, deliverables, internal communication deliverables, etc.)
- Proactively engage in reaching out to and in meeting with key stakeholders, other associations,
- NGOs, regulators, including CEER, ACER, EU DSO Entity, DigitalEurope
- Support DIGITOPIA Hub meetings with digital policy updates.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Requirements & Competencies
- Passion and knowledge for digitalisation & AI policy in the energy sector
- Proven experience in electricity grids in Europe (2+ years, but we value high-impact work above all)
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to translate complex technical industry issues into compelling political narratives for decision-makers
- Flexibility to learn fast and adapt to a variety of tasks, incl. other technical policy topics
- A good understanding of EU policymaking and advocacy activities;
- Excellent organisational skills to coordinate members & meetings;
- Fluency in English
Required Qualifications
- Degree in political science, law, energy policy, engineering, and equivalent.
