European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) is a leading European network of regional energy agencies. We facilitate the development of interregional partnerships and projects, promote the regional dimension in debates on sustainable energy and the environment, and help regions develop their capacity to take action for the energy and climate transition.
We offer a position with responsibility and focus on EU projects’ activities within a well-established European association (35 years), representing members from 25 European countries and active in one of the most strategic areas of current European politics.
About the role
As Communications Officer, you will play a key role in supporting FEDARENE's activities and EU-funded projects by managing communications, dissemination, and project delivery. You will ensure the smooth implementation of projects, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and maximize the impact of FEDARENE services for its members.
Responsibilities
Define and implement communication and dissemination strategies for EU-funded projects and support the implementation of FEDARENE's communications strategy:
- Write articles, best practices, reports, and other project-related content.
- Design brochures, publications, infographics, and other communication materials.
- Content creation, moderation of communication channels, social media management, and cross-promotion initiatives.
- Edit videos and manage visual content production.
- Update and maintain website content for multiple projects.
- Liaise with subcontractors (website developers, video professionals, translators, interpreters, and venue service providers).
- Develop and maintain media contacts and partnerships to maximize visibility.
- Organise and facilitate capacity-building workshops, webinars, conferences, and other online/in-person events in various formats.
- Support the roll-out of FEDARENE services to members, ensuring effective communication activities and maximizing synergies with the project portfolio.
- Represent FEDARENE at public events, including speaking, moderating, and networking.
Administrative, Financial & Operational Management:
- Manage administrative, financial, and logistical aspects of EU projects, including monitoring, reporting, and risk management.
- Maintain and manage FEDARENE's database of contacts, ensuring full compliance with data privacy and security standards.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Experience:
- At least 3 years' experience in a communications role, preferably within EU-funded projects (Horizon Europe, Interreg, LIFE, etc.).
- Familiarity with the EU institutional landscape, ideally in the sustainable energy and environment sectors.
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package (Especially MS Excel)
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools and Canva;
- Ability to translate technical issues for a broader audience;
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Basic knowledge of EU climate and energy policies;
- Self-motivated, engaging attitude with a keen attention to detail.
- Team player with strong collaborative skills;
- Experience organising events from planning to reporting.
- Experience developing communication strategies, including social media.
- Basic understanding of data privacy & security & GDPR compliance requirements
- Fluency in spoken and written English at a C1 minimum level; Knowledge of other EU languages (C1) is considered an asset, especially French.

- Degree in a relevant field (communication, marketing, graphic design)
