Campaigns Lead
The Law Society
Length of contract
12 months
About the Organisation
Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government, and others, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect, and promote solicitors across England and Wales. An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit for a role at the heart of the Law Society's campaigning and political influencing activity.
The Law Society is the independent professional body for over 200,000 solicitors in England and Wales. A year into the new government, there is a significant opportunity to influence the political debate, drive important issues such as access to justice, the rule of law, and a thriving legal business sector up the agenda, and influence policy on behalf of our members.
About the role
The justice system is a public service, as vital to our communities as education and healthcare. But years of underinvestment by the government have left many of us facing an uphill struggle to access legal advice when we need it. We are stepping up our efforts to secure funding for legal aid for families, and reforms to the justice system that could level the playing field for millions of people and families in England and Wales.
As Campaign Lead, you will be at the heart of this work, driving forward our Legal Aid Means campaign and be at the forefront of developing new policy ideas for a justice system that serves us all, as part of a new influencing and thought leadership campaign building on the successful 21st Century Justice project.
You’ll set the strategic direction, build and grow coalitions of supportive organisations, and turn new bold ideas into campaigns that get decision-makers to listen and act. You’ll bring political nous, collaborative leadership, sharp campaign management skills and an ability to engage people at every level.
The Campaigns Lead is responsible for working effectively with a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders to develop and deliver impactful campaigns and programmes that achieve the Law Society’s policy influencing goals, for a justice system that is equally accessible to everyone.
