WQA accelerates professional growth with new mentorship and leadership initiatives

The Water Quality Association is expanding its professional development through Leadership Engagement and Development Advisory Councils, including RISE, WIN, and THRIVE, alongside a mentorship programme and industry video series to boost careers and innovation in water treatment.

The Water Quality Association (WQA) is actively promoting the engagement and professional development of members within the water-treatment industry. With a focus on ethical practices and community development, the WQA aims to enhance water quality worldwide through various initiatives tailored to both seasoned professionals and newcomers.

One of the significant initiatives under the WQA is the Leadership Engagement and Development (LEAD) Advisory Councils, which serve as a platform for industry professionals to connect and share insights. These councils are designed to cultivate leadership through mentorship and development programs that offer guidance, resources, and networking opportunities.

The councils include various groups such as RISE, which targets young professionals by providing access to information and connections crucial for career advancement. The Women in Industry (WIN) Advisory Council plays a vital role in encouraging female participation within the sector, advising on workforce topics pertinent to women while fostering a broader WIN network. Additionally, the THRIVE initiative focuses on innovation and engagement within the industry, further enriching the supportive ecosystem orchestrated by the WQA.

In a notable collaborative effort, the LEAD Advisory Councils launched a “day in the life” video series last year, featuring submissions from members that highlight various roles within the industry. This initiative illustrates the diversity of careers in water treatment and aims to foster a deeper understanding of each role’s impact.

Ahighlight of the recent activities includes a successful “Delightful Debate” session conducted during the WQA’s 2024 Mid-Year Leadership Conference. The session engaged attendees in discussions on key industry topics, reflecting the councils' commitment to enriching the industry discourse.

Central to the WQA’s initiatives is the Mentorship Program, which pairs industry newcomers with experienced professionals to facilitate growth and networking. This program aims to help mentees articulate their goals, develop confidence, and gain insights into applying best practices in their careers. By creating meaningful connections, the programme reinforces the importance of guidance in navigating the complexities of the water-treatment sector.

Overall, the WQA’s efforts in mentorship and professional engagement are crucial for ensuring a robust, innovative, and sustainable future for the water-treatment industry. The association, which represents over 2,500 member companies globally—including manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers—continues to advocate for excellence in water quality improvement and professional collaboration.

As the industry evolves, these initiatives by the WQA underpin a shared commitment to fostering professional growth and knowledge exchange among its members, thereby strengthening the collective impact on global water quality.
