World Out of Home Organization to host largest Annual Congress in Mexico City
The World Out of Home Organization (WOO) has unveiled plans for its largest Annual Congress yet, scheduled to take place in Mexico City from Wednesday, 4 to Friday, 6 June. This event marks a significant occasion for the Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising sector, aiming to attract up to 600 delegates, signalling a notable growth from last year’s record attendance in Hong Kong.
The Annual Congress promises an expansive agenda, featuring a star-studded lineup of speakers, interactive workshops, and an extended programme including an additional afternoon speaker session on Friday, a first in the event’s history. This expansion reflects WOO’s commitment to fostering engagement and providing deeper insights during the three-day gathering.
Confirmed speakers to date include prominent industry figures such as Sylvain Le Borgne, Global Chief Data Officer of JCDecaux, and Cathy O'Connor, CEO of Australia’s oOh!Media. The programme will also feature contributions from Jeremy Male and Anna Bager, both influential voices from the United States. WOO has indicated that further speakers will be announced in the lead-up to the congress, promising a diverse range of expertise and perspectives.
The congress will centre on four themed breakout workshop sessions aimed at addressing the latest trends and challenges within the OOH industry. These sessions will explore “Innovation and Turbulence,” focusing on how innovation plays a pivotal role amid a volatile global economy. Additional workshops will dive into the growing significance of artificial intelligence, advances in audience measurement metrics, and the evolving landscape of automation and programmatic buying in the worldwide market.
Tom Goddard, President of WOO, emphasised the organisation’s efforts to enhance delegate interaction. Speaking to Media Update, he explained, “We are making the Annual Congress more interactive, with workshops and more opportunities for delegates to contribute from the floor and at other times during congress.” Goddard highlighted the record number of submissions for the Global Awards, which continue to set the benchmark for creative excellence in the OOH arena. He noted the calibre of the speakers and panellists, describing them as “uniquely qualified to guide industry professionals and others from the worlds of marketing and media through what is turning out to be a turbulent world economy.”
Reflecting on the industry’s future, Goddard added, “As ever, we're confident that the OOH industry will adapt to and succeed in changing times. OOH has successfully ridden the digital wave, and Mexico City will help to equip us for the further challenges we face.”
This congress not only serves as a critical platform for sharing knowledge and innovations but also underscores WOO’s commitment to supporting and advancing the global OOH community. The Mexico City event will be a focal point for industry professionals seeking to navigate the complex shifts within media and advertising landscapes, providing valuable networking and learning opportunities.
Association executives and trade organisations in the media and marketing sectors monitoring global event trends will find the WOO Annual Congress noteworthy. Its emphasis on innovation, data-driven strategies, and technological advancements aligns closely with the evolving needs of member services across media and advertising domains.
