Working effectively with committees or advisory groups to deliver a successful event

Many association events are created by a committee of expert volunteers with the support of the association’s event team. How can event professionals ensure that committees remain focussed on the endgame; deliver on time, understand the financial and commercial drivers and create a stand-out event? Conference by committee can be successful, but too often it can be a slow and ponderous process creating an average event.

This session looks at ways to improve group working, communication and successful collaboration.

Head of Conferences & Events, National Cancer Research Institute

Nicole is Head of Conference and Events at the National Cancer Research Institute where she provides leadership and direction for the strategic development of the NCRI Cancer Conference and other events, while overseeing their operational delivery. In her previous role as Head of Events at the Royal Society of Medicine, she was responsible for leading and coordinating the strategic planning function and day-to-day operations of an event team of 30. She worked in the events industry for over 13 years, both within associations and in the private sector. Nicole is a full member of the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) and was elected joint-chair in 2014. She also sits on the Advisory Board of The Meetings Show. She recently qualified as a Nutritional Therapist and in her spare time she teaches yoga and meditation.
