It is natural that associations and members want the very best for their sector, but members can find themselves frustrated and critical of activities undertaken by associations, while the associations are hampered in doing what they think is critical for the industry. The process to getting alignment between members expectations and association staff activities is crucial. This case study will explore how this process can be managed so that members and staff are in sync. and both heading in a common direction, working together and giving the association the resources and support it needs to deliver on its objectives. Adeline Farrelly was born in the Republic of Ireland and holds a degree in political science from University College Dublin (UCD), later earning a marketing qualification from the Marketing Institute of Ireland.  In June 2008, Adeline was appointed Secretary General of the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE) ? a European federation for glass packaging and tableware producers.  She is Member of the Board of CETIE, the European inter-professional organization of customers and producers, as well as Glass Alliance Europe (GAE) and holds the post of GAE Secretary General on a rotating basis. Adeline has spent 27 years in Brussels working for various private and institutional organizations, including the EU Commission, EU Parliament, Deloitte, and EuropaBio ? the EU association for biotechnology industries. She is an active member of the Countess Markievicz group, supporting women for election.
