PRCA launches Large Agency Forum to enhance industry engagement

The Public Relations and Communications Association has unveiled a forum aimed at engaging large agencies on vital industry issues.

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has announced the establishment of a Large Agency Forum aimed at engaging the largest agencies in the sector on critical issues surrounding reputation, representation, and investment. This initiative comes as part of PRCA's ongoing efforts to enhance member value and acknowledges the pivotal role large agencies play in driving the public relations industry forward.

Scheduled to commence in March, the Large Agency Forum is designed to offer a confidential environment where industry leaders can engage in high-level discussions. Topics under consideration for the Forum include factors affecting large agencies, the current market state, contemporary employment practices, PRCA's global footprint, and future forecasting initiatives.

One significant aspect of the Forum is its potential to shape PRCA's engagement with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), where PRCA has secured membership. This collaboration opens avenues for PRCA to influence CBI's viewpoints on various economic matters, including artificial intelligence, skills development, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities. Through this partnership, PRCA aims to bolster the influence of the public relations sector within the broader business community and governmental spheres.

Jo-ann Robertson, CEO of Global Markets at Ketchum, has expressed enthusiasm about the initiative. Speaking to Ethical Marketing News, she commented, “Ketchum has rejoined the PRCA at an exciting time under Sarah Waddington’s leadership. As interim CEO, she has presented a compelling proposition for large agencies, and I am particularly looking forward to working in collaboration with our large agency peers to problem solve and shape our industry for the future as part of the Large Agency Forum.” This sentiment captures the optimism surrounding the forum and its potential contributions to the larger public relations landscape.

Sarah Waddington CBE, the interim CEO of PRCA, remarked on the organisation's commitment to enhancing member value. She stated, “At PRCA, we are always looking for ways to improve the value we deliver to our members. The Large Agency Forum is an important step in recognising the contribution of our largest members in shaping the industry’s future. By bringing together senior leaders, we can collectively address key challenges, seize opportunities, and strengthen the role of public relations within the wider business community.” Waddington’s comments underscore the Forum's intent to foster collaboration among top industry figures in navigating the sector's complexities.

Invitations have been specifically extended to the 20 PRCA agency members with over 100 employees, which collectively represent two-thirds of the large agency market in the UK, according to projections from the 2024 Office for National Statistics (ONS) data. This will ensure that the Forum's discussions are grounded in insights from substantial players within the industry, facilitating a robust dialogue on the future of public relations.

The introduction of the Large Agency Forum reflects PRCA’s strategic vision for building a more resilient and influential public relations industry in an ever-evolving business landscape. As the Forum gears up for its inaugural meetings, the focus on collaboration and proactive engagement promises to bring significant advancements to how public relations entities operate and advocate within the broader economic framework.
