About City and the Convention Bureau
Gothenburg successful host city of AWC 2019 and internationally awarded for the superb blend of different suppliers working together delivering high-quality meetings. With the covid-19 disruption Gothenburg is adapting by implementing health and safety protocols, advancing venue digital infrastructure and gaining relevant knowledge on hybrid formats and platforms. The pandemic has changed what we once thought we knew, and collaboration has proven more important than ever rebuilding the meeting industry. We want to continue to create added value for associations and for people who meet in Gothenburg. Dialogue with associations is instrumental, and we welcome the opportunity to exchange ideas and understanding new needs.
Gothenburg is a popular meetings destination, and for the past four years recognized as the leading destination for sustainable meetings in the world. A well-developed collaboration between the private, public and academic sectors, has made Gothenburg a significant centre for academic research and hotspot for innovation. Life science, automotive and ICT are strong clusters with world-leading companies like AstraZeneca and Volvo.
The city combines a distinct feeling of charm with the pulse of modern urban life and creative atmosphere. The compact, pedestrian-friendly city centre makes it easy to move around, and right on the doorstep is one of the most stunning archipelagos in the world. A perfect location for anyone seeking knowledge, inspiration and new encounters away from the capitals.
The Gothenburg Convention Bureau serves as the official link to the local community, free of charge.
