Accountability is a fundamental requirement of good governance and Boards have an obligation to report, explain and be answerable for the outcomes of the decisions they make on behalf of their organisations. Rather than viewing this as a burden, Boards should welcome accountability as an opportunity and use their reporting as a means of celebrating performance and acknowledging endeavour, and for generating confidence and trust amongst their association’s members and stakeholders.
