About the role
The Salesforce Developer will take a lead role in the ongoing development, optimisation, and evolution of the organisation’s Salesforce platform and its allied integrated systems. Working closely with the Digital Products Team and wider stakeholders, the postholder will deliver high-quality technical solutions that improve business processes, enhance data quality, and deliver an excellent user and customer experience. This role combines hands-on Salesforce development with strong stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and contribution to the overall Salesforce product roadmap.
Responsibilities
Salesforce Development & Technical Leadership:
- Act as the subject matter expert for Salesforce development, advising on best practices and technical solutions to meet business needs.
- Design, build, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions including Flows, Apex, Lightning components, integrations, and custom functionality.
- Ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of the Salesforce environment.
System Improvement, Automation & Integration:
- Lead the continuous improvement of Salesforce through automation and system enhancements.
- Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and third-party systems.
- Proactively identify opportunities where technology can add value, improve efficiency, and enhance the customer journey
Product Development & Delivery:
- Contribute to the Salesforce product roadmap and support the delivery of new features and releases.
- Work closely with Business Analysts to translate user stories and requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Support release management, testing, and deployment activities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
- Work with colleagues across the organisation to understand business processes and technical requirements.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support and mentor colleagues within the Digital Products Team as needed.
Data Quality, Security & Governance:
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance within the Salesforce platform.
- Support best practice in permissions, roles, and system governance in line with organisational policies.
General:
- Maintain and manage records in accordance with RCR’s data protection policy and guidance.
- Maintain documentation on all activities carried out.
- Undertake such duties appropriate to the level of the postholder’s qualifications and experience as may be required by the RCR from time to time.

- All teams across the RCR.
External Working Relationships:
- Third-party vendors
- End users (as necessary to deliver functionality)
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Salesforce Developer in a complex organisation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce configuration and development (Flows, Apex, Lightning, APIs).
- Salesforce Developer certification (equivalent demonstrable experience).
- Experience working with integrations and third-party applications.
- Experience working within agile and product-led delivery teams.
- Experience supporting CRM change and release management processes.
- Experience working in a membership, education, and not-for-profit environment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Accurate use and understanding of English.
- Strong problem solving skills and a data-driven mindset.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative and approachable, with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, curious, and keen to continuously improve systems and processes.
- Comfortable balancing technical delivery with wider organisational priorities.
