EFAMA is the voice of the EUR 33 trillion European investment management industry. Our role is to promote the interests of our members and raise awareness of the importance of the services and solutions they provide. We are the primary source for statistical data on the European fund and asset management industry. Our flagship publications, the EFAMA Fact Book and Asset Management Report, are the go-to references for information on the evolution of our industry.
Through our Market Insights series, we analyse recent industry trends and developments based on the latest available data and present our findings in the context of current policy perspectives. We are committed to evidence-based advocacy and seek to develop our research activities further to support our regulatory policy work.
About the role
European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) is seeking a Research Officer/Senior Research Officer (Economics/Finance) to join its Research & Statistics team.
Responsibilities
You will be part of the Research & Statistics team at EFAMA. The main workstreams of this team are:
- Production of ad-hoc evidence-based research primarily through our “Market Insights” series to support the Association’s advocacy work;
- Collection and analysis of statistical data to produce ongoing publications, such as EFAMA’s Fact Book, Asset Management Report, Quarterly Statistical Releases, & Monthly Fact Sheets;
- Responses to Research & Data related queries from internal departments at EFAMA, as well as from external member/non-member organisations;
- Development of Research workshops throughout the year.
Your role will be transversal across all Research team workstreams, overall consisting of:
- Production/support on the production of Market Insights, using data to produce evidence-based research underpinning EFAMA regulatory positions. Depending on your background level of experience, you may “Lead” on certain topics (see the Policy section of the EFAMA website for an idea of topics we address).
- Support for the production of ongoing publications. Depending on your background level of experience, you may be responsible for writing & final production of specific sections of the reports, as well as support for data collection & audit processes.
- Responses to queries received from internal departments at EFAMA, as well as from external member and non-member organisations;
- Support to the team on the development of Research workshops throughout the year;
- Support to the team in tasks related to the Economics & Research Committee.
Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes
- Research Officer position: 0-5 years of relevant experience;
- Senior Research Officer position: 5 years of relevant experience;
- Experience with commercial databases such as Morningstar or Lipper, and public data sources such as ECB, Eurostat, & OECD is highly valued;
- Proficiency in tools such as Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, Macros), R, Power BI, Python, & SQL is highly valued;
- Highly proactive, self-motivated, result-oriented, creative, and enthusiastic;
- Ability to quickly absorb and synthesise complex information;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent English drafting skills are an absolute must.
- Knowledge of the asset management industry, financial markets and/or European institutions is a distinct advantage.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Economics/Finance (strong knowledge of Econometrics highly valued). Fields related to our work, such as Statistics/Data Science, may also be considered
