About the Organisation

FEANTSA stands for the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless. Founded in 1989 and based in Brussels, it is the primary European network of non-profit organizations dedicated to ending homelessness through advocacy, research, and policy, with over 130 members across 30 countries.

About the role

Contribute to FEANTSA's communication work in a vibrant, growing European network dedicated to ending homelessness in Europe. The Communications team consists of a Communications Team Leader, who works with the team on day-to-day communications tasks; a Membership Engagement Officer who works autonomously on the membership area of work, including internal communications; a Communications Officer; and a Communications Intern.

Responsibilities

  • Edit the Homeless in Europe Magazine, including identifying and contacting contributors, editing articles, and coordinating the layout of the magazine
  • Contribute to FEANTSA’s newsletters, including drafting and editing content and supporting production through Mailchimp
  • Proofread and edit texts produced by colleagues, including reports, statements, campaign materials, and other communications outputs
  • Lay out documents and publications, ensuring consistency, clarity, and a professional finish
  • Create visual materials to promote FEANTSA events, campaigns, statements, and other communications activities
  • Supporting FEANTSA’s social media and website by uploading and managing content.

Skills, Competencies, Experience & Attributes

Competencies & Skills:

  • Language proficiency: Native or near-native level of English, with strong proofreading and editing skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Content engagement: Capacity to work with content beyond surface-level editing, with attention to meaning, context, and purpose
  • Graphic design: Ability to design and produce visual communication materials, including visuals promoting events, statements, and campaigns
  • Layout & design: Experience in laying out long-form documents (20–50 pages), ensuring a professional and consistent result. Strong skills in Adobe InDesign are highly valued, but equivalent results achieved using other tools (Canva) are also acceptable
  • Commitment: Dedication to the fight against homelessness
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively, share responsibility, and contribute actively to collective outcomes
